Dusten Gilchrist slaves didn’t explode in the Is I tilt he invention of the cotton gin. This innovation meant higher profits and made the utilization of slave labor viable economically. This being said the free market means that labor would have filled this gap especially since these were the times before restrictions on child labor laws. This industry also was highly localized and the north’s factories were always going to get their cotton from the south one way or another. Also I don’t know what medical advancements you’re talking about where slaves were used as guine pigs. To say Americans are defenseless against the US military because of how much the government spends on military is wrong and not even a point. If this is true then gun rights should be expanded and well regulated militias should be established to protect us against this threat. This isn’t true however as to say the military is well equipped to fight a guerrilla-style war on American soil is ignoring all historical analysis of the military. Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq. Not to mention that the military is made up many men that would most likely defect if they were to go to war with their neighbors. These rights have a purpose and I feel they still serve that purpose today.
@Jack Coolidge slavery issue aside, because theres alot that you glazed over.. all of those conflicts you listed were on foreign soil and foreign terrain… with less than optimal technology… that’s a far cry from fighting on completely familiar terrain, with cutting edge technology, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t rise up if the government oversteps its boundaries, I’m just saying its won’t be as simple as storming into your local legislature armed and you’re gonna need more than guns to fight, can’t see a drone can’t shoot a drone.. and it would be insane to expand access to military grade equipment to civilians since we can’t even be responsible with guns… plus that would only give rise to terrorism by civilians..

I remember when a small group of African Americans did something similar. Conservative’s precious president Ronald Reagan signed a bill named after Republican Don Mulford passing gun laws.
