Why are truck drivers classified as unskilled labour?
@G.A Aside from the obvious which you pointed out its classified unskilled labour
@greenbay It takes a great deal of skill driving shift with more then 12 gears and having to drive in really bad conditions with thousands of lb on the back and to back those trucks into bays and sometimes they help unload trailers.. Font forget some drivers have mechanical experience in case they need to fix their vehicle
@greenbay Class A licensing and a airbrake endorsement requires “far” more technical and administrative skills then you might imagine not to mention the immediate skill needed to navigate a heavilly loaded vehicle in todays urban areas.
@G.A It’s way more difficult than driving a car but more than that commercial licensing is way more “onerous” than driving a car.
Truckers are considered as Professional Drivers, sadly though, there needs to be more training. My husband works on that part of the industry.
