  1. I dislike laissez-faire free market capitalism and Conservatives! I like protectionism and and a middle class because of the new deal and Keynesianism by taxing the rich like we had from 1933 to 1983! And I expect the NDP to be democratic that way!

    1. You should be worried about ford. Ontario elects the Prime minister and if ontarians don’t like ford then you know who they aren’t going to vote federally for.

    2. It’s not like we can’t scrutinize both.

Better to be worried about both. Canadian leadership has been on a downward slide for years now.

    3. Odd position since every transparency concern levied at Trudeau also applies to Ford, only Ford’s situation is worse and directly affects you more.

I don’t think anyone is a Trudeau fan. In fact, I don’t think Canadians in general particularly like the Liberals. But if Ford and other Conservatives keep being actively worse than the Liberals then the Liberals are going to just continue to win by default. If you lean conservative, you need to pressure your party to be better on this front because you are never going to convince the fence-sitters with a party that constantly sidesteps democracy even worse than the Liberals do.

    4. @Dale Wilson — in what way is ford worse? given mcguinty and wynn? Kenny Vo above said it right. we must scrutinize both. but i take exception to your position that ford is worse than justin or mcguinty or wynn. currently i have not seen anything outstanding on fords leadership. many would say if it wasn’t ford you could be mistaken to blindly think ford is liberal in his policies.

  2. Ford is fiscally responsible. Which is much more than can be said of his Liberal predecessors or of the Feds. Given the half trillion debt we are carrying in Ontario, with debt servicing costs (interest) of $1 Billion ($1,000,000,000) EVERY SINGLE MONTH, such is to be celebrated rather than pilloried. The country as a whole is paying $70,000,000,000 a year in interest alone thanks to LIBERAL “INVESTMENTS” in Canadians. We all know what that means.

    1. Weird position. Would you call it “fiscally responsible” if a family refused to buy food for their children because they have a mortgage to pay off? The concern here is that Ford is failing his duties as an elected representative.

Ford seems to be borrowing from the future to pay for yesterday. In the long term: this is always more expensive than debt.

    2. @Dale Wilson You may wish to look deeper. Fact of the matter is that the Liberals under Wynne and McGuinty are largely responsible for the half trillion dollar debt we have in Ontario. Ford has not been adding to this debt except to a very small extent. Hence the interest cost of $1 Billion EVERY SINGLE MONTH is really to pay for Liberal excess borrowings of the past.

  3. think maybe the Liberals should consider Mike Schreiner for leader and rebrand themselves the Green Liberals.

  4. It’s great that we’re spending less. As long as the savings don’t disappear somewhere and are used to pay down the debt.
