  1. I don’t blame the teachers them food is very expensive not to mention light bilk every working class people should join with the teachers them telling u to eat health out of what

  2. I don’t blame them paying little bit of money and thy work so very hard and some of the kids didn’t respect them

  3. Cut the politicians pay and pay the teachers. They deserve more money for their hardwork. They have to protest because THEY ARE BADLY UNDER PAID!!! Cost of living is EXTREMELY HIGH, why are the wages not moving up too. STOP TAKING THE TEACHERS FOR FOOL!!! They can migrate anytime and WE NEED THEM, PAY THEM BETTER AND KEEP THEM

    1. @Haddingtonian GCP Where the money is going to come from, we have thousands of teachers .

    2. @Genfaa Manfunzie same place it comes from that pays the MPs. If there’s a will, there’s a way. Trust me, if government wants to get it done, it shall be done.

    3. @Haddingtonian GCP On the revenue side how the government going to collect or you want them to print or barrow it.

    4. @Genfaa Manfunzie If it’s important,it can be done. If it’s not, excuses and procrastination. Government had money to want to go help fix Haiti but keep teachers and nurses on the breadline. Let that sink in.

  4. The work we do cannot be meaured. We do more than teaching. We save lives. They don’t have any idea

    1. We play multiple roles in these students’ lives. We are mothers, fathers, counsellors, educators to name a few. Today, I had to search the bushes behind the auditorium to find a number of grade 11 boys to prevent them from smoking. Then I had to marched them to class and lamented my disapproval in them smoking their lives away. My husband was so upset when he realized that my little 125 pounds, 5ft 2 inches self could have been overpowered by those boys. It is a good thing they respect me. The things we do for these students.

  5. Cannot say that I told you so. This was going to happen. Loyalty and respect is needed from the government. Give educators what they rightfully deserve. This going to get even worse. The world will know how you treat us by just comparison. We say we are a top country in the Caribbean as well as the world and still you cannot appropriately pay your Jamaican educators. For years the pay has been frozen and the cost have living has surpassed even 7 times. That salary and the new compensation cannot do anything. Our leaders of Jamaica need to do better and treat us like we a human being/professionals. Teaching is not easy.

I heard a man said that the public sector/ teachers are inefficient

    YOU BELIEVE THIS?
Some jobs that like teaching, Early Childhood, Primary, Tertiary is not even gold but diamond to the world. No teachers, no more Prime Ministers, No more nothing because there is no educatorto educate. What happens to a nation. In fact there is evidence of this which happened in a country and it became a country of terrorism. Jamaica is not far behind because of what you say without properly, critically thinking about what you say. These words turns off a teacher because they are already frustrated. This is why they accept the gift to the foreigners begging for them. I mean why should stay in a country that do not respect teachers? When I am a King/ Queen in another country. Like a car, I am running on rims because my tyres are done. I have 7 countries who are begging for me but because of my dedication to Jamaica I stay. No more dedication and play time is over. I will leave just like everyone soon if nothing is done. You will end up teaching your children.
Who can say the workforce of Jamaica is delinquent? Really. If there is no public service in Jamaica what will happen to Jamaica. We will fall into a pit.

This is the reason why teachers are leaving Jamaica.
MPeople who think teachers are your slaves. For years teachers are working for nothing. We are humans and we have children and the most live in the ghetto and horrible areas where shots buss everyday and we cannot do our plans. We cannot even afford a house. Some are homeless.
    A question to you.
You have a worker on your land, if you do not pay him properly for the work, what happens?
In fact, last year thousands of our best teachers left Jamaica to build another countries wealth. My evidence is YouTube. Check and you will see thousands left and posted a video of the happiness and wages they recieves in Dubai, Germany, USA, Cayman, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Wales, England, Canada even Caribbean countries pay 10 times more than a Jamaican Lecturer in a University. You make talks but they are week. You want teachers to kill themselves for nothing. No it will not work anymore. We all are tired and bigger. Countries are calling and begging for us. Now if a student fails back in the day teachers set up extra classes, but now they cannot even afford to have a extra class, they cannot even give some of their salaries to children who dont have it. Yes it is teachers that use to feed poor children who come school vomiting and collapsing. We are even caretakers. So much work yet we cannot buy rice, flour and mackerel. Yes this is the life of teachers in Jamaica. We cannot even buy good food, shoes, clothes in Jamaica with our salaries. Worse not even a car for work. Before you speak research on the work of a Jamaican teacher. The other countries cherish us as the best in the world because we can working multiple overtime education and recreational jobs with no resourses for little pay in Jamaica. Now we are paid for everthing we do overtime in another countries. We are the intelligence of the three keys of the world. If we are all going from Jamaica, then the dunces will take over. So you take time and appreciate teachers because without them destruction is eminent. Long lines of a dedicated teacher.

  6. CALLING ON ALL PARENTS WHO ARE AVAILABLE TO COME OUT AND SUPPORT OUR CIVIL SERVANTS. POLICE FULL TIME UNNU WORK FOR THE PEOPLE AND WITH THE PEOPLE AND STOP WORK FOR ELOSEABET THE SLAVEMASTERS

  7. Very good it’s about time u all voice being heard I hope the whole Jamaica teaches protest enough is enough

  8. As a husband of a teacher/guidance counsellor, I have to say that families are impacted by the wages of teachers and it puts pressure on spoces too. Stand firm teachers and don’t relent. Stop talking about making Portmore a parish and put that money towards the teacher’s salaries. Cut the parlamentarins fringe benefits and start to pay them based on performance! Without teachers we will have a dunce nation! What about all the unspent money that was not used by MOH and others? Put that towards teachers! And JTA, you better not sell out!!!

  9. At the rate at which this government is going we will be having more unrests.

Pay the workers their due worth. The cost of living is so high and i know all of them up there living alright while those of us who carry the weight of this country are left to suffer. The classrooms now have become so violent on top of it.

  10. I agree with them. A place like Jamaica where our children can go anywhere in the world and apply for jobs, they deserve better treatment. Some places I’ve been to almost 3/4 of staff are Jamaicans, from Principal straight to the kitchen. Fix them up mek dem feel good. They should’t have to be migrating because of needing a better life. In Canada they have to be driving on ice to go teach in the cold and leave their beautiful Island. Fight for your right Teachers. Govt too slack. Roads looks like precipice and only when 5 young promising youths died they fix it. Sickening.

  11. Sorry for you mommy and your son it’s not easy to perish like that. Repent ye nations 🙏🏽🙇🏽‍♀️📖

  12. These arson attacks are more disturbingly rampant now. I wonder what the law is for arsonists??

  13. As a retired Principal and the mother of 2 present teachers in the Jamaican classroom I can truly say that the pay teachers are getting is so so inadequate. Teachers over the years are poorly paid but we tried to make it. Now cost of living is so high. Government need to do better now.

  14. Teacher, Nurses, and Police just to name a few. NEED TO GET BETTER PAY. for all they have to go through..

  15. Teachers feel underpaid even in the wealthiest countries…and indeed are among the lowest paid. Plus, the crap that they must tolerate with some students! They are leaving the classroom in droves; and the salaries aren’t attractive enough to attract new recruits nationally so, they recruit internationally. This is why teachers are recruited from other countries. It’s the profession that no one enters because of the money…it’s has to be love for the profession and the students.

  16. Parlimentarians are going home with a salary they do not deserve but teachers are being paid less than 1000 USD per month. What a shame. How sad that our educators are heading overseas in order to get a respectable salary. I am so disappointed in this government. They have absolutely no respect for the nation’s teachers.
