    1. Andrew Holeness and his cronies can help all Jamaicans be more patriotic with good governance, improving the economy, taking real steps to contain crime and ridding govt institutions of corruption. How about he and his mps taking a salary cut so that Jamaicans can be paid a little better? How about reducing the cost of food and utilities and stop allowing JPS; FLOW and Digicel to name a few to stop ABUSING the citizens of Jamaica with these ridiculously high utility bills, maybe then Andrew Holeness can speak on patriotism.

    1. Visiting ja is nice with money in pocket but going back and living no way can’t work out I will stay been a tourist.

    2. 90% of jamaican who leaves Jamaica do love their country, and would return in a heart beat if this was much better in Jamaica ,its the corruption of government and law enforcement ,the crimes and the poverty living, that why a lot of the young people turn to crimes, looting and shooting, scamming, drugs ,and many more types of crimes,., government dont care about the people they only care about the taxpayers money, and what are they doing for the place, been a patriotic Jamaicas cannot put food on my table. What is the government doing in Jamaica that will cause the people to stay , name one,

    3. Especially when we have been living abroad and can see how effective things are when the system is regulated properly and gives the citizens what they want.

  1. People migrate for a better life. I’m a patriot living aboard because I come back and build a house to retire and spend my hard earn money

  2. Most Jamaican are forced to make a choice to leave to servive and feed their family. The rediculous minium wages, high rent, high school fees, plus traveling and bills in the country. How do they expect anyone to servive in these conditions. I love my country but the politics and some of the policies. This is what driving, the people to make that hard decision to leave. I’m now able to help my family .

    1. Exactly 💯 agreed, corrupt politicians, high cost of living and crime is what’s forcing us to migrate

  3. To me it’s the best island in the world but this too has been orchestrated for outsiders to reap the islands resources.
People with sense leaving the u.s going to the islands and the materialistic ones running to the fire. Social media have dem dunce. Same time government needs to HELP THE PEOPLE!!! Only modern day plantations unno dealing wid?!?

  4. Jamaican been doing for country, country is ungrateful I know people retired over two years ago and still ain’t get a cheque yet these are people who was patriotic to Jamaica 🇯🇲 and give all their energy only to be disappointed how you are supposed to survive for almost three years without a paycheck when you was living paycheck to pay check,I worked 12 years with the government and when I applied for my NHT contribution they said they only can find one year contribution, every criminal in Jamaica have guns both legal and illegal but no law abiding citizens meet the criteria.that mayor am willing to bet he or his family have a couple houses in Florida, lot of rich Jamaican have houses in Florida and a us visa technically they are not living in Jamaica 🇯🇲.

    1. @Arlene Clemmings those are the reasons why people left Jamaica 🇯🇲 ,it’s not structured in America you retired you start getting your check immediately if any small delay you get it with interest,we who left Jamaica 🇯🇲 is doing way more for Jamaica than those politicians,wi put 90% of the pot them pon 🔥

    2. And that’s why they could care less about our health care system as well.
Look at the people they vote in to represent them. A lot of them hardly knows what it’s like to go without.

    3. @Preston Matthews I remember one of these politicians I think it was a PNP politician is wife was pregnant in 2016 and she came to Miami to have her child, jubilee nuh good enough 🤫

    4. @Patrick Mcdonald all the shithouse dem do it. Vaz di whole lot a dem. Dem really nuh care and di people dem nuh see seh dem tek dem fi idiot. Look how much dem thief and nuhbody nuh go a prison

  5. No sense talking about patriotism re: a country that doesn’t give a crap about its own people. This relationship should be a two way relationship, not the opposite. Politicians want us to stay and build a country that does nothing but bring us down everytime we try to stand up? Naah, get your priorities straight.

  6. A Jamaican will always be a Jamaican wherever they go. Patriotism cannot feed mouth. This is the same all over. Nothing new under the sun.

    1. Truly sensitive I agree with you one love to each is one I have no regret leaving Jamaica Iam still a Jamaica 🇯🇲

  7. How can he say that? The PM chats a lot of nonsense especially when his children do not live here. The crime in Jamaica is off the chain and the Governmenf in power does nothing about if because they have 24 hour security. The most hurtful part about it is that both psrties need the crime monsters in the garrisons in order to secure that seat. DISGRACEFUL !!!

    1. … and, it wasn’t the PM who said that….listen again.
What was said had hurt me too. After thinking about it, I don’t care what anyone wants to say-can’t stop them from talking. As long as they can, people (and animals too [no disrespect]) will always move to where the grass is greener. Where better opportunities present themselves people will take it. It happens globally.

    2. Rita Lyn true talk agree with you who’s him to tell people what to do whyle them live up the hill in them big house

  8. Leaving Jamaica for better jobs /income… Too much crime..dirty government and law enforcement…. Bad roads… Poor health care,, poor education system… New government need.. New health care system need…. It’s the unintelligent people speaking trash about people leaving for better living… The basic job in America and other countries pay better than 90% of the jobs in Jamaica. All facts.. Freedom of speech and respect people opinions… Education is life and freedom… Wake up Jamaicans

  9. Yes. I was the same way. Jamaica was always it for me but after seeing how Bruce handled the Dudus situation and the manner in which they were talking and handling the economy. It was time for me to pack my bags.
After graduating university a lot of folks either become teachers, police, solider, work on the north coast or end up at a call centre.

    1. Thank God my father took his children to England; That was over 60 years ago. I came back 8 years ago. The crime rate is ridiculous. The poverty is bad, what would happen to a lot of these people if their relatives hadnt gone abroad to earn a decent living, to be able to help their families living in crime ridden Jamaica. Those ones who left are heroes. When they return they help some people, they come back and build houses giving many jobs.

  10. I’m gonna rant, because I know I won’t fit all my thoughts in this comment. Crazy I just returned from Jamaica and I can relate and see all these points of views, I was in Savanna La Mar and I think the country took many steps back and a few forward. Jamaicans leaders needs to do better especially at the local levels. The main thoroughfares are dilapidated and the neighborhood streets are beyond repair, there’s this evidence of neglect everywhere. The people also needs to revolutionize the changes they want and don’t settle for less. I was floored when I went to juicibeef and couldn’t get a snack because they didn’t take cards then the atm didn’t work, it’s almost as if they didn’t want my business and I thought how many others did this happen to today and the loss of business. Why can’t all the banks in Jamaica figure out a way to prevent these long lines at Banks/ATM? Why is everything done with a attitude of I don’t want to without zeal yet when these same people move to these first world countries, they do the same thing with enthusiasm. Why can’t people abide by simple rules for the greater good of humanity speaking of the taxi drivers and motorists on the roads.

    1. @Kingsley Grant most banks are even closing branches all over and many that continue are not full service to cut costs they say.I find that inconvenient myself and if I operate businesses in these places the travelling with cash to banks miles away is a real security risk.
If not you have to incur extra cost hiring some company in the legitimate Crime Industry.

    2. @Ni Hao I noticed that also. That happened in many other places but the difference is the new alternatives offered resulted in speed and better service. In Jamaica it seems like they remove what’s in place and reduce instead of moving forward with better upgrades.

    3. Each one teach one. It’s just the way how Jamaican think. Ja full a union but no have none. If you nah pay a Jamaican you nah get nothing done and even when you pay you still a get pinch. Ja just full a hustling. A everyone fi themselves. Truth be told there is two Jamaica. Rich and poor period.

    4. The banks in ja stole billions if not trillions. Imagine you work all you life and save and because hard time reach you and you no put money Inna you account the dip Inna you money till it done. You how much Jamaican a save money secretly and dead left it a bank. Who all that money go to. Pure f, ery gwan Inna the land we love

    5. @Marc Johnson I’m of the understanding that financial institution must charge certain fees and I agree with however overcharging of fees is not ever beneficial. Now for folks passing away, can’t they set up benefactors for their accounts?

  11. Funny how those whose children don’t go to bed hungry or who do not have the frustrations of dealing with our hospitals, government agencies or get and remain in a decent job can talk about others being unpatriotic. The reality is life is not only hard in Jamaica but there is no justice. Crime, corruption and cronyism is the order of the day. Opportunities are limited and those, like myself, who stay are harassed and frustrated. The government need to understand that the exodus will continue if nothing is done.

    1. My parents left Jamaica in the 1970s. When they took us kids back during the 1980s and we saw the beauty hotels and white sandy beaches we always ask why the hell did they even leave Jamaica in the first place. Guess what, they gave us the same answer you wrote. Isn’t it amazing how little things have changed in 50 years? Self interest will always prevail, it trumps everything.

  12. I do not blame any citizen of Jamaica who wants to migrate for a better life; it’s become blatantly obvious that the govt of this country does not value it’s citizens and are only in office to benefit themselves and their families/friends. It as absolutely nothing to do with being patriotic to Jamaica the COUNTRY, we are just not patriotic to a govt that wants us to suffer and live a miserable life.

  13. Given the present sate of Jamaica; the crime rate; the 850 disappearances and counting; the poverty the teachers unrest the list goes on and on. It is as though Jamaica is governing itself and there is no governance to stem the mounting degree of violence. No one seems to be addressing the problem-tone deaf. To come and chide the who are migrating as if it’s a figment of their imagination is rather ridiculous.

    1. @Gloria hello. The government is tone-deaf indeed, detached, unaffected and out of touch with the harsh realities of the ordinary Jamaican citizen particularly the high crime and tough economic conditions.

More Jamaicans now recognise that they do not have to suffer quietly and depend on handouts from politicians. Most citizens want to live a decent dignified life and so they look at the options that are available to them and select accordingly. If such a person is labelled unpatriotic then proudly so!!

The days of politicians tricking us and making promises they know they’ll never fulfil and other sly annancy tactics they are known for are near over – despicable!!

  14. I wonder what beautiful Jamaica would look like if Jamaican weren’t leaving Jamaica for a better life, and sending remittance back to Jamaica.

  15. I’m a 45 year old single mother, lived in Jamaica all my life. I lived in a garrison and crime was the order of the day. I started working at the age of 17 and always saved my money. Each time I thought I’ve saved enough money for a deposit on even a one bedroom, the price keep going up. I’ve always said that I would never leave my country but when I realized that I needed to provide a better environment for my daughter, I changed my mind and migrated to the US. Politicians not looking out fi people so people in them situation and stress have to do what them have to do.

    1. I agree with you 150%…I am 54yrs. old and have never travelled outside of Jamaica…I stayed here to try and build my country, but has come to realize that it’s a lost hope…Our politicians only recognize us during election times with empty promises…I realize this from the early 80s…smh…I am so proud of my sibblings who migrated from the 80s. The all own there house in the States and can drive the best of motor veichle…”And they obtained their degrees in the US…Praise Jesus.

  16. One could argue that Jamaica is a failed state, treat it as such. Provide people with meaningful opportunities and they will find a way to live a better life. My research paper for my Master Program focused on the effects of migration on the countries economy and development and by an large migration, positively affected Jamaica. However, remittance and the Diaspora contributions alone cannot save Jamaica’s economy. It is almost as if the expectation is that it should alleviate the government’s responsibility to put adequate measures in place so that the economy is sustainable. It is so difficult and time consuming to do business in Jamaica. The government and private sector needs to work assiduously to fix that issue also.

  17. I left Jamaica not because I wanted to. But I was born as a sufferer, strive as a sufferer, survive as a sufferer, but I don’t want to die as a sufferer.
