Jonathan Swan: Trump Is Not Confronting Reality About Coronavirus | The Last Word | MSNBC

    1. @Cole Hanks Perhaps because I live in Australia at the moment I’m completely out of the loop on which state voted Democrat or Republican in the last election. Is Texas a republican state? What about Florida? Arizona? North Carolina? Do you know how to look up statistics? I’m happy to help if you’d like guidance. Yes New York and Illinois were hit first but it’s been impacting red states a lot lately.

  1. I just loved the look on Swans face when he was talking to trump, he was wincing & you could
tell he could hardly believe what he was hearing, disgraceful trump👹

    1. Although I am not a big fan of Trump, Mr Swan is very rude and aggressive and he interrupts the president everytime he tries to explain him the Corona Statistics.

As a matter of fact, the president has the numbers right. The USA does better than the United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy and Spain–all modern Eureopean countries. Here you can check the real data:

These raw statistics, which are not yet normalized (if they were USA would be better than most of the western countries), further show:

      1) Daily cases in USA clearly decrease, and 2) the mortality number also drops.

USA citizens inform yourself. You are in the middle of an information war. Swan only mentioned Germany in Europe (which does better than the USA) because he tries to manipulate you. Be careful, do not be brainwashed by selected data of this jorunalist, as we were during WW2.

      Best regards,

    2. @Peer Terborg
OK TROLL copy paste much? Gees get a life!!! You guys are so obvious showing that you get paid for spreading trash!

    3. @Peer Terborg STOP copying and pasting the same lies under EVERY comment here. You are a TROLL attempting to deceive others.

    4. @Peer Terborg  @Peer Terborg  I’m from the UK and the government, like the USA, have been rightly criticised for their handling of the pandemic.

I think you’re doing the same thing – manipulating data to suit your points. Yes, cases in the USA seem to have dropped over the last couple of weeks from around 65000 a day to 50,000 a day. However, where does it show that mortality numbers have decreased ? This is a lie because it clearly hasn’t.

The key statistic for how a country is doing right now is active cases. The USA has currently 2.2 million people (out of 328 million) who have the virus, Italy has 12000 (out of 60 million), Belgium has 43000 (out of 11 million). Go find a graph of deaths in the USA (type in Google USA Covid deaths graph) and then do the same for the countries you’ve mentioned and compare that to deaths in the UK, Belgium and Italy. Deaths in the USA are right now clearly going back up whereas the countries you have mentioned are not. Yesterday, Belgium had only 2 deaths, Italy had 6 and the UK had 49. The USA had 1300 deaths. Yes, the USA have a higher population but even taking that into account the USA is currently on a daily basis are far worse.

Thus, I agree with you. At the moment, current data suggests that Belgium, Italy and the UK have higher deaths per 1 million than the USA. However, the statistic of deaths per 1 million (that you are using to criticise an excellent journalist) shows what has happened in these countries over the last 4 months. However, it does not show exactly what is happening RIGHT NOW in these countries. These journalists are correct to be concerned when looking at the data about what is going to happen in the future. The number of active cases per 1 million of the population is, in the USA is, alongside Brazil, one of the worst in the world.

Thus, to call the concern about this and the rise in deaths ‘propaganda’ and compare that the WW2 Is just, well, pathetic. So let’s come back to your deaths per 1 million statistic in a couple of months time because the USA are likely, on the current trajectory they are on, to be the worst of any country in the world.

    5. Peer Terborg Trumpy didn’t even understand the pictures on those papers he was flapping around🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

    1. Cole your precious fox news is owned by a guy from Australia. How do you like being indoctrinated by foreign media? Now pick that outta ya teeth mate.

    2. @Ralston x Splitting hairs I know but Rupert has renounced his Australian citizenship I believe. Otherwise I’d be more ashamed of him than I already am… ;-(

    1. @Rickard Kaufman The PR guy who told a previous president that if you call it by its right name = global warming – people will remain actively involved, but if instead you concentrate on just one aspect of the problem – changing weather patterns, and call it ‘climate’ change, people will think it’s not something they can affect, and will stay passive and demand no change. He seems to have been right. Alternatives to fossil fuels are actually reducing in production, not increasing. But meanwhile the chemical transformation is proceeding, and an egg even half-boiled is permanently dead. Simply chemistry. We have till about 2050.

    2. @Rickard Kaufman And the lump of coal was coated in a plastic laminate, literally so he wouldn’t get his hands dirty.

    3. @nathan adler But isn’t he trying to prove his own colleagues that the coal industry is worth keeping and alternative sources of energy is not important? I mean, it was global warming that led to the Australian Wildfires earlier this year.

  2. I the he doesn’t understand the difference between case fatality rate (deaths/ confirmed case of infected people) and crude mortality rate (deaths/ US inhabitants), then you realize that he is STUPID beyond anything measurable….

    2. @Peer Terborg No he wasn’t. The President is simply stupid and was not right about anything. There is no place called #”the rest of the world.”. These childish charts didn’t even have a Y axis on them. He claimed “you cant do that ” when you work out what the incidence of death is in a population. If you think that it correct then there is something wrong with you.
When he claimed experts say …then when asked he claimed read the manuals – this is just frighteningly stupid by a man who doesn’t know what he is talking about and just making things up.
He also didnt know that black people are killed 2.5 times more often than white people – so again he was wrong as he claimed white people are killed more – he doesnt seem to understand proportionality.

So he was explaining nothing- he was like a demented grandad trying to explain time travel. You should be ashamed of yourself and him for this apology.

    1. @Peer Terborg It’s not so much he gets numbers wrong, it’s the way Trump is just very helpless when it comes to defending/explaining them. Imagine if you asked Trump why the Earth revolves around the sun, and his reply was “It is what it is”? lol

    2. @Peer Terborg STOP copying and pasting the same lies under EVERY comment here. You are a TROLL attempting to deceive others.

    3. GeorgeJones Another one of his favorite buzz words, Miller must have taught him a new word of the day🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    1. Agree. Swan did a great job. He was prepared, determined and persistent without ever being disrespectful or impolite. He set just the right tone and demeanor to question the most powerful imbecile on the planet.

  3. It’s worth remembering that none of the questions were tough, none were leading him into a trap. He made himself look stupid

    1. @Peer Terborg Yes, in part you are correct, and have backed that up by the information in the link you provided.
      -Good for you.
But you HAVE to look at the big picture here.
The statistics Trump shows are irrelevant, and only produced because they make him look right, and because it makes it look like the United States are just fine and dandy! Which they are NOT!
It makes very little difference that the United States today has less deaths per 1m people than a lot of other countries, when there’s only ONE country that has a higher rate of deaths per day. Most are down to double digits, and in the United States there’s over 1000 deaths every day.
This really isn’t the time for delusional leadership, and it DEFINATELY isn’t the time for someone who put little to no stock in healthcare professionals and pandemic experts.
      And since you brought it up;
Swan doesn’t start the interruptions, not even once! Trump cuts him off constantly, and I lost count on how many times Swan asked “Can I finish my question?” – but did indeed notice that Trump only let him finish it ONCE.
More than half of Trumps “answers” were talking points designed to make himself look awesome – but that only managed to shine a big bright light on his deteriorating mental state.

    2. @Peer Terborg STOP copying and pasting the same lies under EVERY comment here. You are a TROLL attempting to deceive others.

    3. @Mikael Helletun
Thank you, so much, Mikael H.
Trump and his supporters fixate on irrelevant details to derail meaningful dialogue and to make Trump look better… and they do little else.

    4. Roger Harris LOOK stupid? He IS stupid, among many other descriptive terms! I was embarrassed for him!🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

    1. Seriously!!
Other reporters should take note and Call on trump really Direct questions and challenge his absurd claims!!

  4. The way President Trump was digging a hole for himself he has just about reached the Land Down Under. I think he nearly got how deep he had dug himself though when he was saying US was under the world. Someone should tell him you are up there we are down here. Not sure he knew were he was in the end

  5. Vote The Liar in Chief out of office. Trump is not to bright even if he can remember Person, Man, Woman, Camera and Television. LOL

  6. You know the only true thing that Trump has ever said is “Nobody likes me”… IT IS WHAT IT IS!

    1. Another true thing he said is “the world is laughing at us” and that this situation will get “worse before it gets better”.

    2. I wish that were true but apparently there are either a lot of Nobodies who can Vote, are the statement isn’t true and there is cult worshipping and voting for the moron despite everything he’s done/is doing.
