I will tell you I was extremely unhappy with him because I did not like his foreign policy when it came to Iran and most of all his denial of climate change…..       The base issues, as I see it, are two fold. Humans have a defect in their brains that allows and encourages fear and racism-millions of years old. The multiplier is that technology allows smartphones to change the way you think about the world. This will not end quickly or cleanly.
      The U.S. democracy and others, have their days numbered, and I mourn the loss.

  7. For those who don’t know, the phrase “America First” first came into fashion with the crowd that did not want us to go and fight against Hitler in the late ‘30’s & early ‘40’s

    1. The American First Committee opposed any involvement in World War II. During the 30s and 40s, anti-Jewish literature and pamphlets were readily available. Thousands of Jewish immigrants trying to flee the war were denied refuge in this country. It was not uncommon for ministers to preach about the evils of the Jewish people. It was just one more ugly chapter in American history.
      Benjamin Franklin wrote a number of letters describing his disdain for German immigrants arriving in this country. He warned if we didn’t stop it we would be speaking German and democracy would end. Irish and Italians were considered a threat. America is often referred to as a melting pot of people from all over the world, and we even brag about it, but there has always been resentment for people coming into this country that were not of British descent. This country also had a very defined caste system. The biggest fear has stemmed from immigrants who choose not to integrate within society. Those who cling to their traditions form their own communities, preferring to speak their native language and retain customs of the countries they left because of authoritarian rule that often resulted in terrorism, mass killings and war. Many of these immigrants do not want their children going to American public schools for fear that their children will embrace a culture they disapprove of. Such people want to live in America because of our democracy but choose not to adapt to American traditions and culture causing suspicion and unfortunately hatred for an endless variety of reasons. This has been going on for generations and will continue. But hatred is a two-sided sword. There are immigrants living in this country who hate Americans and consider American lifestyle as evil. A very difficult situation….

    3. @Jason Koster They both, Her Majesty and Prince Philip, had German relatives and ancestors. The last reigning German Emperor, Wilhelm II, was the first cousin of George V, Elizabeth II’s paternal grandfather. This makes her the Kaiser’s first cousin twice removed.
      That is not a connection that would be a problem, then or now, to any rightminded Englishman.

    3. WASPs and White Supremacists are not the same thing. WASP describes non-Catholic Christian whites from Western Europe. White Supremacist simply describes someone who thinks whites are superior. There is some overlap between the two groups but it’s unfair to use the two terms interchangeably. Not all white people are racists, same as not all black people are racists, same as not all Asian people are racists.

That Carpetbagger didn’t even get her house in Rome until AFTER she “won” her seat!! She tried (and failed) 19x to win in GA6 and couldn’t do it, so she went where nobody knew her to pedal her crazy talk! I will be the first to admit that my State has got PROBLEMS, but QAnon GA6 Barbie Carpetbagging in GA14 highlights the INSANITY which the GA State Legislature allows. Some QAnon Barbie can run in a district she has ZERO TIES TO and win is a PROBLEM. Then she is an embarrassment to ALL Georgians and is disgracing a district she ain’t even FROM!!
