Waste Management in Jamaica needs desperate attention. I am very embarrassed when I visit and the state of some streets with uncollected garbage. There are enough men incarcerated who could be used in a productive way in this area

So, can someone explain what purpose does the Parish Councils serve on this island. The political system we have here in Jamaica is a mirror of the same system in the UK. In the UK the Local Councils which is the equivalent of our Parish Councils, is light years in between the two in what they do. In UK the Councils ensures all local Government duties are carried out which includes street cleaning, garbage collection. In Jamaica I ask again what are the duties of the Parish Councils as you look around the Parishes of the Island it is disgraceful when it comes to them seeing that proper governance discharging of their duties are carried out, all there is talk, talk, talk and more talk.

or last few years trash in Oche region has not been addressed because of a lack of enough trucks and parts for trucks, but every time they seem to get it under control, it seems like trucks disappear to Kingston or Mobay..lol..and never come back.
