The so called maroons were simply slaves that escaped the plantations and formed a community separate from the oppressive European. Some of these slaves made a pact with the British to be left alone in exchange of turning over any other escaped slave or hunting , capturing and killing them.Mining the cockpit country should not be allowed but the corruption runs deep in the government and the maroon country. Both parties have a agenda to line pockets with wealth at the expense of the destruction of Jamaica’s eco system.
