Math On Trump Covid Strategy Has Millions Dying Before It Works | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC

Rachel Maddow does the math on the herd immunity Covid-19 strategy that Donald Trump has chosen, with the backing of Fox News doctor Scott Atlas, as the way the U.S. will deal with the coronavirus and finds that even with rosy circumstances and granting some leaps Trump makes without the support of science, millions of people would die in the U.S. for it to work. Math On Trump Covid Strategy Has Millions Dying Before It Works | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC

    1. Tell people I know personally it’s fake news. They work at the hospital and have watched people die from Covid. Yes, they had underlying conditions. But, they would still be alive today if it weren’t for Covid. And their underlying conditions WERE NOT FATAL!!! They had a ton of years to live. The population was far less than now in the US during the Spanish flu. So by statistical ratio; the numbers for Covid are far worse.

    2. @danielle morrison” the Coronavirus is worse than the Spanish flu” what are you smoking? The Spanish flu killed 1 out 20 people in the world so far the coronavirus has killed 1 out of 8,000 people in the world.

    3. The virus kills people in red states too. I guess it’s color blind. I actually know of quite a few WHITE people who have died.

  1. The fatality rate in Europe seems to be around 0.49% now, assuming this rate is achieved this would still translate to one million dead. However a considerable proportion of those who fall ill end up with long term problems from the illness stretching all the way from loss of taste and smell, through renal failure, heart and lung damage to psychological problems and acute physical fatigue. Covid19 pre existing conditions could plague health services for many years to come, and potentially could shorten many lives.

    1. @Jon Linin Jon, I’m not making light of COVID and I am NOT taking my focus off of the car as you suggest! You have a small chance of dying from COVID if you get it. You will probably have no symptoms at all, that is the most likely scenario even with a pre-existing condition. A co-morbidity condition is deadly on it’s own without COVID. In previous years, a “co-morbidity” condition would have been pneumonia for many who are already dying. Because of COVID, these deaths are attributed to COVID, whereas on any other year it would have been something else, but those persons would have died anyway. Do you understand my point?

    2. @MJB For Trump no, you seem somewhat conflicted. In terms of the impact of Covid19 though it is worth noting that even asymptomatic people can suffer damage. A recent German study showed 67% of asymptomatic people showed blood markers indicating some level of heart damage. Of those with Covid19 symptoms who don’t die many will carry health problems for a considerable period. (I personally know four people who has Covid19 in March, all of whom are still displaying symptoms.)
This is why it is important to take measures to combat Covid19, such as mask wearing, distancing and hand washing, as recommended by the CDC and every other public health body in the entire world.

    3. Rino Ponce 675,000 people died in the US of the Spanish flu in a period of 15 months. We’re at 200,000 in less than 6 months

    4. @Jon Linin Perhaps I am a bit conflicted. There are many viruses in the world that can cause deadly harm, but have I ever had one or know anyone who has? No. So I go about my daily life without the paranoia and fear and PRIOR to COVID, without mask or social distancing! Yet, the viruses are still out there. So, yes, I am a BIT conflicted, aren’t you?

    1. reza garena so the virus becomes part of every American… do vulnerable people never ever meet anyone in society ever again then? And do you think the rest of the world will ever let an American or American products in their country ever again??? Good luck with the world economy you stupid, stupid person.

    2. @D Zaja you have a problem with comprehension, you are a fascist if you are a trumpcultist. Full stop, end of message.

    3. @D Zaja which proves you’re living under a rock. And as for your brain, well as I said, it’s so propaganda laundered, the soap bubbles are coming out of your ears.

    4. Yeah, he doesn’t know squat about math or how numbers work. He believes that number of infections rises if you do more testing.

    1. Stop listening to fake news people. First of all how many of you know more than 2.8 million people died in the U.S. last year alone. If one death is too many why didn’t we shutdown the country? If one death is too many why do we let people drive since it kills thousands of people everyday. How many of you know that only 6% of coronavirus deaths weren’t already sick people? Rachel Maddow predicts than there are going to be more deaths from the coronavirus than the Spanish Flu. Rachel said 675,000 Americans died from the Spanish flu. How is that possible when the Spanish flu has killed up to 100 million people in the world. The Spanish flu killed 1 out of 20 people in the world so far the coronavirus has killed 1 out 1700 people living in America. Even if the coronavirus deaths increase by 10 times the death it would be 1 out 170 people living in America far less than the Spanish flu.

    2. THAT is why he has started to only count deaths in RED states, to signal to his base “Well why do you worry about the Hippie cities and traitor counties?”
The redhatters aren’t clever enough to look into the numbers to see that for months it has been red states that lead the surging numbers. Yes New York still leads the deathcounts with 33 k, but then there are two red States in Texas and Florida that are going to be past 20k very soon and have passed California which has a greater number of known cases than either of them. It doesn’t work out even in the Trump model of “only our own people count”.

    3. @Ugly German Truths Nobody cares. The numbers are lies and the virus kills people that were almost dead already…more people die from heart disease. Where is the outrage?

    1. @John Henry Holiday308 They are typically 80-90 percent empty inside. What is your point? Should we start referring to Trump as a Jack-o-Lantern? I think you’re right!

    2. @Walt Schmidt Trump is the only one hanging out with communists. He gushes over his love letters from Kim Jong-un and his relationship with Vlad Putin is there for all to see. Time to put America first and vote the communist out!!
      Biden 2020

  2. I like the part where t’rump said his new plan involves the death of 2 million Americans. Now THAT’s some Stable Genius-ing right there. 😅😂🤣

    1. @Shellie Wolske I think u need to google what genocide is .If you are worried about genocide u should be focused on how all white countries are being forced to be diverse instead of worrying about a over hyped common cold.

    2. @fred Rogers I’m not a tyrant,s wet dream but my husband seems happy obtw I wear mask to prevent others who have weak immune systems you can purchase masks/Amazon grocery stores change often as needed, and as an independent woman I can think for myself I don’t need to be told how to, as for the utilization of a mask I’m well aware of the length of time I can keep it on peace out👌👌👌

    3. @Michelle Nichols u should not need to wear a mask for others if masks work then if others are wearing a mask then they should be fine if u are wearing one or not

  3. Trump wants everyone to be the sacrificing lamb, but not himself.
If Trump is a real leader, I say sacrifice yourself, first.
    Good riddance!!!!!!

    1. @Hana Ayo Alemayehu No President has the ability to pass or not pass any legislation. A President only has the power of the veto, which Congress may override. Thus, whatever any President may feel about “single payer” healthcare, it is the will of the People which will pertain.
Besides, Biden has said that he favors a public option – just not a wholesale abandonment of the ACA.
Biden is against the legalization of marijuana, but supports its use medically. I agree with his position. Marijuana should not be federally legalized.
Now, I’d love to hear you make the argument FOR Trump in EITHER of those arenas.
Where is Trump’s great healthcare for all plan that he promised us?
Where does Trump stand on pot legalization?

    2. @omi god Thanks Biden Goon on that legislative lesson .. What made you think I required it .? As of today Trump is against Weed Legalization. and Medicare For All just like Crime Bill Joe .

    1. But even tho hes on a riser more than six feet away covid is air born and travels like aerosol. Hes still not that safe in a indoor arena. Let’s hope . I wouldent wish that on anybody. But …
      .

  4. A thought for our American cousins, “Don’t blame a “CLOWN” for acting like a clown blame yourself for going to the circus”!!!! For the sake of the world “VOTE”!!!!!!!!!

  5. It’s official. We’ve gone the way of Joseph Stalin “the death of one is a tragedy while the death of thousands is a statistic

    1. Shellie Wolske 10,000 deaths due to Covid in people with no pre-existing condition…. Fact. 97.766 percent survival rate… Fact

    1. I see more death from the Democrats than I do from the Republicans. Trump and the Republicans want to get together to get a relief bill but the Democrats don’t. Why is that?

    2. @M A ~ This Toxic Trump administration is like living the nightmare of an alternative bad ending to Stephen King’s _’The Dead Zone!’_
Wrote this comment above some time ago and have posted many times, unknowing that King had discussed precisely this eerie connection in an interview about a year ago, until after someone replied with the following link to that very interesting, relevant interview just recently:
      https://youtu.be/UXfklsKGwBU

    3. @UpCycle Engineer ~ Toast burns.
      Paper burns.
      America burns…
Under President Nero, who sets fires and extinguishes lives.

    1. freedomwtruth
No facts? Just look up any scientific report from proper scientists, fool.
You’re the one speaking against science, you have to come up with proof, not me, it’s already there.

    2. @Elaniago try being a little brighter than that. Of course there’s facts out there you’re presenting none. Stop deflecting what are the facts that you based your fears upon. And I don’t blame you if you don’t put none because they’re made up and the facts of changed and you probably are not informed

    3. freedomwtruth
You want me to teach some random moron on YouTube how to google, ok. Just stop spreading ignorant disinformation and save lives.

  6. ‘Herd mentality’ is his Freudian slip. It is what he wants. Blind herd of non-thinking people follow him to wherever he wants.
