A lawmaker in Montana was silenced by her Republican colleagues on Monday, after they demanded she apologize for saying there would be “blood on your hands” if they voted for a bill to ban gender-affirming care for minors.
Last week, as the state’s House debated amendments to the legislation, Democratic Rep. Zooey Zephyr criticized the bill and its supporters, referencing the group’s opening prayer. “I hope the next time there’s an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands,” she said.

@Mark Tovey Your biological sex refers to your make or female characteristics. You are either XY or you are XX. There is a small percentage of people with genetic defects, but they’re just that, defects. Your gender is tied to your biological sex. Some people, specifically on the left side of the political aisle, have attempted to complicate the issue by saying that gender is predominantly based on social and cultural differences rather than biological differences, but this is bs. Our genders are determined by our biological sex. We are male, female, or confused. Left wing activists work hard to add confusion to the mix.
Parents are supposed to reinforce the gender roles. Failure to do so is child abuse.
As part of my job, I am required to introduce myself, share my preferred pronouns, and then ask for theirs. From then on, I refer to them by their chosen pronouns. I do believe that if they believe that I must refer to them by their chosen pronouns that I have a right to reject their prefixes for me. As such, I am a man, rather than a “cis male”.
As I said, you are not qualified to explain anything to me. The odds are very good that my life experience, training, and education outstrips yours. You are clearly not as smart nor as well informed as you would like to believe you are. Your arrogance is simply astounding.
Good luck with that. Hopefully you never find yourself in a serious situation. You would find that you are not prepared for it.
@MS1971 biological sex is strongly correlated to gender but it isn’t the same thing. You seem to be aware of that so I don’t see what the disagreement here is. I don’t like the idea of putting your pronouns in your bio or introducing yourself with them etc. as trans people are a tiny minority and there’s no need to totally restructure society for less than 0.5% of the population. But if someone, for whatever reason, wants you to call them by pronouns that don’t correspond to their sex, it’s just polite to do so, even if you have some doubts about the veracity of the concept.

The speaker needs to be transparent by admitting that he has a crush on Rep. Zephyr and cannot be in the same room as she, he, it, they without getting a stiffy. The speaker calling in the state police as a show of force, with batons drawn, merely reinforces the point.

Am I the only one who was excited to find out we have an LGBTQ voice in Montana politics while they make decisions ABOUT lgbtq people, and then immediately disappointed to find out she’s not allowed to speak. All I’ve seen is her saying they’ll have “blood on their hands”… which is a bit of a dramatic way to express that the already high trans suicide rates would probably go higher, but I’m used to more grotesque quotes from our former president…so what’s the big reason to ban her from speaking?

@Jack Mitton Why? If the doctor, the parents, and the child involved approve, what right does the government have to remove a fully reversible treatment? Why are politicians allowed to override all of the others involved?
@Jack Mitton That all gender-affirming care must be banned. That is the position being questioned. The variable in question is the word “all”, which is not needed.
If your position is that irreversible changes should not be made, then state it clearly that way.
The laws being implemented in multiple states ban ALL gender-affirming care, not just irreversible gender-affirming care

@Jack Mitton I think I should address your limited definition of “HARM” here. You are only addressing (according to what you said, as read using the common meaning of the words you used) the harm to those who transition, then decided they didn’t mean it.
The question should be the harm to all of those who transition, whether or not they change their mind. And statistics show that gender-affirming care reduces suicides, self harm, and psychological issues in the group as a whole.
HARM? Absolutely!! what are the stats for persons who had surgery then committed suicide or are left with lifelong trama because of the “life-changing/saving surgery”? that was initiated/completed at an age when the human brain is not fully developed and as an adolescent? The floor is yours Mr. Zephyr.
From what I’ve read, which is anecdotal statements by medical persons, very few come to regret it. So, if you have real stats, please let me know where to find them.
