  1. I’d give Firtash a pass. There’s nothing to be gained by simply incarcerating him as opposed to channeling his vast wealth to save lives and defend Ukraine.

    1. @ChickenMcThiccken yeah, that’s a terrible risk that brings us closer to Vlad the mad pressing the button.

    2. Maybe the Feds, should focus and move all this Attention. To Mr Hunter Biden. And leave this Oligarch who is risking more than scorch mark on his furniture and carpet from hot meth pipes, to do good for someone else .

  2. The US has form for letting things slide when it’s a matter of National Security. The Mafia got a pass during WW2, so I think this is pretty small fry compared to that.

  3. If he is helping now, let him go. However, looking at his eyes when he speaks, he is not entirely honest in his intentions. I believe he would back whomever he believes would win, and right now, that is Ukraine.

    1. @Metalosopher What you said rings true. It’s risky to work with such a treacherous opportunist. Every cloud has a silver lining, though.

    2. He probably agreed to the story, and giving a few million in exchange for them unfreezing his assets.

  4. The way Americans pronounced his name used to bother me, but now I realize that the name Poo-tin is actually quite fitting for him.

  5. To me it sounds more of a personal interest. He can continue helping without asking for anything in return like ordinary people did.

    1. oh kate, you’re so naive .. it’s a simple FACT that EVERYONE is selfish. You, me and rest of world, just because some people seem nice and help, doesn’t mean they are not selfish. Whatever reason you help someone, you do this for yourself only. It’s just the illusion where people’s interests fall in line, where you think someone is nice and not selfish, but such thing doesn’t exist. everyone is selfish. Even if you give money to someone without asking anything in return, it can make you feel good about yourself, there’s a saying “it feels good to do good”, so it means you’re still doing it for yourself. If doing good would feel bad and damage your own well being, you wouldn’t do it. simple as that.
NOBODY on this planet does good without getting some sort of satisfaction in return. PERIOD.

    2. so…how will he CONTINUE helping if he gets extradited to the US? Kinda hard being in prison facing court trials and also trying to rectify your mistakes. If all his assets are seized for the time being while facing court hearings, how will he be able to help?

  6. I think this is the guy who has influenced the government to set minimum retail oil prices in Ukraine that are below international wholesale prices, destroying his competitors, and he has some way to profiteer from it.

  7. eh, I think he see lost profits with the Russian bs and he’s just protecting his own interest/investment.

  8. Don’t let this guy negotiate his way out of this. A man this well connected will make sure he never sees any danger. He may even find a way to profit.

    1. If he was let go to help Ukraine it would be a waste to put him on the battlefield of course… 😉

    2. Well, that is only natural as he will then have a Ukrainian construction company to rebuild Ukraine.

  9. Let’s not be naive to think this man isn’t just going through this charade in order to save face. The US doesn’t make such claims and charges for nothing. Not saying he’s definitely guilty, I would just be mindful of his obvious PR spin.

    1. I know nothing about this case, but yes, the US government does bring false charges or politically motivated charges far out of proportion. Assange is one example. Reality Winner is another. Winner was guilty, but of a lesser crime than Trump’s document theft – and contrast their treatment.

    2. It’s not a bad thing, and people do have changes of heart, all of a sudden ones priorities just change!

    3. @Guy North certain types of people do not change. You are a bit naive. The next time you run ito a drug user who tells you he kicked the addiction, I see your money and valuables gone and you not understansding what happened.

    4. the US are simply pissed of it wasn’t a US national doing the racketeering ( or successful business deal)

  10. “Are you using the war to launder your image.”
    “No, not exactly.”

    Just “more or less.”

    1. @Didi Ski What proof can you provide that I don’t help feed those in need? Or that I don’t voice my complaints to the corrupt leaders you speak of?

  11. He’s throwing as much money as he can just to save himself. A simple phrase such as “I’m just a businessman trying to do the best I can” is deeply ambiguous. This man has financed a lot of the problems we have in the world today. Links with Trump, links with Brexit and populism. Let him have his day in Court so he can disprove the accusations.

    1. @Not Sure I didnt say anything like fully pardoning him, i just said billions could possibly be used to help Ukraine and be considered a fine as part of whatever punishment he may have earned.

    2. @Married To The KGB Britain heading for our biggest recession in 14 years and the cost of living is completely out of control. Great success!

    3. I see he is not seen by you as a liberal and that is your big problem with him. Such hypocrisy….

  12. I’d keep him on a short leash and let him “walk the walk”. In addition to what he can personally accomplish, he would also demonstrate to other oligarchs “on the fence” that there are opportunities for “redemption”.

    1. If it is one thing that is at the core of criminality then it is I wash your hands, you wash my hands scenarios

  13. I have a sneaking suspicion if he was released to go flight in Ukraine we’d suddenly see a private jet flying towards Dubai a few minutes later 😂

  14. While all these parties are trying to achieve the same goal It would be in the United States best interest into putting together an agreement between the CIA, Mr. Oligarch and the prosecutors. There is no reason why the court could not put off the court date till the CIA or other agencies sees where this might go.

  15. He can do this without asking. Like corporations ask customers to donate to causes while cutting hours not paying health insurance. But still make profits and not pay taxes.

  16. The moral question is if he is doing something right and desperately needed (fund Ukraine), can that offset some of the alleged frauds he’s done in the past ? I know that’s not how the justice systems works but I do believe in 2nd chances if people are willing to change for the better.

    1. @Giltedged Absolutely no idea what you’re trying to say here, and makes no sense as the US is providing a large amount of support while the US is dealing with it’s own difficulties.

    2. @Giltedged again, no idea what your point is here. Can you simplify it to a single sentence please?
There are lots of countries that we arent helping. Why is Ukraine more deserving then countries in Africa?
If we do more we/nato run the risk of triggering nuclear holocaust.
I guess that doesnt factor into your wandering diatribe, which again I cant figure out what the point is
      Clarify please.

    3. AMEN! AND HE IS NOW NEEDED MORE THAN EVER. THE MORE HE HELPS THE UKRAINE AND THE FREE WORLD TO OUST PUTIN THE BETTER!!!

  17. His last statement- he’s a businessman, this is what he does, to make a profit….. war is very profitable to so very few. Make some bucks and a “get out of jail free card” all at the same time. It’s nauseating that any country would need to accept such help. This guy isn’t the first or last, though.

  18. “I find ways to make money” answers everything. Let him defend Ukraine, then after the war’s over assess his contribution, and whether he has learned to conduct business ethically.

    1. I agree, but the US shpuld make a deal with him and after the war the can asses what his contributions were regarding Ukraine and if he deserves a pardon, but onky after the war. But Idk whats possible, if tjats even an option, cuz Idk how that kind of law works, esp one so unique as this case seems to have become and he sure ain’t no friens of Putin, what our Government thought at the time, but they were wrong, like they were wrong abt Russiagate, wjivh went nowhere. Now his call to Zelenski however, ig you hear the phonecall, you’d hate him for talking that way to the brave President of Ukraine.🇺🇦 So rude, ordering him to find dirt on Biden’s son Hunter. Who did get a cushy job just bc of his father on some board in Ukraine, nepotism, as if Trumos kids aren’t guilty of even worse, making millions bc of their dad’s position, esp Ivanka, in China 🇨🇳, fn commies those Trumps 💩

  19. Even if there’s a slight whiff of sulphur around him, he’s on the good side, the side of ultimate victory. Slava Ukraini!
