A sheriff, one of his investigators and a county commissioner in southeast Oklahoma are accused by a newspaper of discussing killing a local reporter and lamenting that modern justice no longer includes hanging Black people.

The explosive accusations were published this week in the McCurtain Gazette-News, and now the state's governor is calling for resignations in connection to the claims.

    1. Caught with? Lots of people say sarcastic things they don’t mean but people freak out when they hear it and actually believe it lol

    1. @Foxy Fox and yet aaaallllll of social media is hearing the conversation -how is that possible if it wasn’t “out loud”?

    2. @Satonna I agree, but still I think Foxy Fox makes a good point: the people in the convo never meant their words to be heard by anyone outside the room. Or to put it another way, they didn’t intend to speak “out loud”. This was a “hot mic” incident. One of the good things about a hot mic moment like this is that it serves to put corrupt people on notice that they cannot possibly know for sure who they can trust, or where they are “safe” from prying eyes and ears. When corrupt people lose faith in their partners in crime they become more prone to making mistakes and outing themselves.

    3. Corrupt Officials must be held accountable with prison time…For anyone who has observed, been threatened, or harmed by Corrupt Government Officials, file a complaint with the NSA(National Security Agency), ask for a investigation under the RICO ACT(Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) and the Hatch Act(Illegal seizure and taxation). The government cannot break the law, to make the law…File a complaint, or live and die as a slave…Lawsuits don’t stop government corruption, RICO ACT prison time does…Contacting the right people changes everything…

    4. @Satonna because it was a secret meeting being recorded. Not a public statement.

Y’all are really looking for trivial things to be angry about when maybe it should be more concerned with the actual contents of the tapes.

    1. Not just arrests but also cold cases like any mysterious disappearances in that county as well. They talked about knowing hitmen and places for hiding bodies.

  1. GET RID OF QUALIFIED IMMUNITY. If you don’t know what that means, it’s time you start understanding what defund the police meant

  2. The issue is oversight…
They think they’re too small to be looked into by the state so they can operate autonomously.
Small town politics with small town police force can have more influence on citizens tan the Governor, SCOTUS, and the POTUS.
“Politicians cannot be trusted.” – Obi-wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker

    1. @D4NIEL57 freedom of speech isn’t limited because what I say is so disturbing. For example, I can encourage someone to commit suicide over and over again. But there’s an additional requirement. Even though the law says encouraging suicide is unlawful, the state must prove that I provided the means of helping the victim commit suicide.

So if I say “go kys you pos” and hand the victim a handgun and he shoots himself. Then that is a crime. Me, merely telling the guy to kill himself isn’t criminal, it’s my act of handing a gun to have him commit the act

    2. @Alkazar and you’re completely wrong about the suicide thing. That was completely irrelevant btw. No one here is talking about convincing people to commit suicide. We’re talking about the government conspiring against innocent journalist. Look up the case of the girl who convinced her boyfriend to kill himself. He did it on his own in his car with a hose coming out of the tailpipe. She didn’t provide him any sorts of means. It’s amazing that you can just be 100% wrong about everything that you say. I guess if it supports the government, you don’t need to be right.

    3. @D4NIEL57 she did more than just text him over and over again. She did more than just that

According to the Supreme Court of Massachusetts, as the victim “…continued researching suicide methods and sharing his findings with the defendant, the defendant helped plan how, where, and when he would do so…”

    4. @D4NIEL57 I agree that the government shouldn’t conspire to deprive freedom of speech and consequences are needed. But that does not arise to criminal conduct, yet, they would have to begin executing the plan in order for an arrest to have probable cause.

Again, if Robert says “I want to shoot up a school” and someone reports him. The cops may engage him, or put him in a blacklist or investigate him secretly. The moment he executes or attempts to execute any part of his conspiracy, the cops would intervene and have probable cause to arrest.

If Robert however, communicated the threat to the school via email, then they can arrest him, because that’s legitimately a true threat.

  3. The Sheriff family owns a funeral home. Coincidence???? He casually talks about hiring hitmen and disposing of the bodies. INVESTIGATE THEM NOW

  4. 5. Sheriff Clardy: “Thar a lotta folk, all hat n’ no cattle.”
Mayor: “Yeah. But you’re the cat who shat his hat.”

  6. It’s pretty much the same kind of comments most all of us have heard every racial group say about every other racial group. It’s a mindset that needs to be quashed firmly and decisively whenever and wherever it is encountered.

  7. Cute how the sheriff wants to make the issue about an “illegal recording” instead of conspiracy to commit a number of crimes.

  8. They’ll probably just arrest the guy who recorded them. They’re just you know ” good ole boys “.

  9. This isn’t an isolated event. It’s just one that happened to be recorded. This attitude is rampant in local governments in the South and Midwest.

  10. This individuals do not represent Oklahoma in any way. There is no room for people like this in Oklahoma or any other state in the United States. If anything the FBI or state prosecutors need to heavily investigate all the people involved.
