PM Trudeau outlines new travel restrictions, includes mandatory 3-day hotel quarantine

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced all Canadian travellers returning from overseas will have to take a COVID-19 test at the airport when they land and quarantine in a designated hotel for three days at their own expense while they await results.

He says that's expected to cost more than $2000.

Those with negative test results will be able to then quarantine for the remainder of the mandatory two weeks at home, while those with positive tests will be required to quarantine in designated government facilities.

    1. @Zach Carter
You’re right!! I just got back, I seen the writing on the wall. I know what this racist clown is going to do before he does it.

    2. Where did Trudeau go? Got any sources? all I’ve seen have said he’s been at one of his homes, the one on Lake Harrington, and now he is back in Ottawa

    1. @scissor hanz I have. It’s not about pride, this is about reality and peoples lives. Also I see no relevance to my age in this conversation, if I can even call it so.

    2. @Zeev Keane ?? “It is our largest service export and represents more than 2 per cent of our GDP. One in 11 Canadian jobs—more than 1.7 million—depends on the tourist economy. Tourism is our number one employer of youth, and is an important provider of employment for new Canadians.”

    3. @Zach Carter perhaps if the essential ferry didn’t cost a family 150$ each way you’d see more tourists.Sidneys beautiful but I can fly to Maui and stay in a really nice bnb for the same price as Sidney ,an hour from my door.

  2. Why don’t you stop flights from the UK, Brazil, and South Africa if you’re so worried about the variants?

    1. @VlogdeJorge si mi hombre gracioso 😆 and you , what do you know that you would like to share to show your bright light , geography perhaps ?

  3. So go someplace cold, get on their plane and go someplace warm, got it.
PS what gives you the right to put these laws in place?

  4. I’m very very concerned about the direction I see most of the world taking right now. Any common citizen should be as well.

    1. If you’ve ever wondered how fascist regimes were born and how amazingly easy it is for them the BE born……

  5. Its going to be one new variant after another, and one further restriction after another. They need to revaluate the lessons they teach kids on rights vs privileges, cause when I was in school I was told a right is something nobody can take away from you, not something that can be suspended.

  6. Hey Trudeau. Let’s go back to 1942 when we put innocent Canadian Japanese into prison camps just because they were deemed to be a “possible threat”. I think this is your so called “scientists and experts” way of thinking.

    1. @john galt I was really hoping he’d have been gone but we had a very weak conservative candidate in Andrew sheer last election. That along with his pandering to immigrants and a promise to open the flood gates to everyone and their grandmother… Well, here we are.
