Private Russian army chief competes for power inside the Kremlin

Yevgeny Prigozhin, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's closest allies and leader of the brutal private army the Wagner Group, is using dissent around the war in Ukraine to jockey for increased influence inside the Kremlin, US and European officials say. CNN White House Reporter Natasha Bertrand and CNN National Security Analyst James Clapper join Erin Burnett to discuss. #CNN #News

    1. @ali parker Just because you can’t take care of yourself doesn’t mean we should stop helping Ukraine survive genocide

    1. Prigozhin obviously is a complete idiot. He thinks running a 5,000 private mercenary “army” is the same thing as running a country with 6,000 nukes. I think it is pretty close to a point where the idiot will have some little “accident,” with a broken neck. Can’t just openly criticize a cold, KGB killer like Putin who kills Russians both inside and outside of Russia at will… anyone he personally thinks has wronged him or Russia.

  1. Huge respect to the resilient Ukrainian…
The strength & will of patriotic Ukrainians fighting to defend their beloved motherland will never be defeated..
    Slava Ukraini..
    Stay strong Ukraine.

    1. Ukrainian forces have been decimated and there’s no one to replenish the dead troops mostly are mercenaries these days many ukrainians refuse to fight russia cause they believe its suicide and they are right.

  2. This is how weak Pooptin army is. Mercenaries are fighting for Russian army because Russian army are weak. The problem with Russian authorities they fail to understand is Ukraine 🇺🇦 people are fighting for their land they will not give up. This is the reason why Russian are dying by thousands by a week. God bless all the people in Ukraine 🇺🇦

    1. Yep, though ever the opportunist, already Prigozhin can see where all this is going. And if you’re gonna raise ‘objections’, it always helps to have your own private army in case your boss gets any ‘ideas’. BTW, it’s also been reported that Prigozhin has recently started make ‘conciliatory’ remarks towards Zelenskyy.

    2. No. This guy is just another Russian mafia boss. Putin is a whole other level of evil and greed. If Prigozhin became a threat to Putin he wouldn’t hear the next clock chime.

  3. Good points by Clapper, someone I’ve been very critical of. Excellent reporting and commentary, thank you.

  4. That’s how it usually works historically. Gain more trust and power on pyramid, then kill off the guy at the top.

    1. @Michael Davisonyeah but I think Russia will have democracy eventually. They are behind usa a good bit still but they will get there. Putins regime is trying really hard to prevent it though. They are now having mandatory lectures to children in schools of propaganda. They know democracy is on the rise and the leaders will be losing some of their power to the people of russia. It may take another 100 years but I will happen eventually.

  5. Seems like Prigozhin was at the heart of these discussions on the use of a tactical nuclear weapon. He’s been the topic of discussions on all major news channels since NYTIMES leaked the subject of discussions

  6. The acts of barbarity and extreme wickedness by the fascist Russians in the independent country is heart wrenching.

  7. Always trust the cook who serves you all this nice ingredients you need for good health and eternal life. Putoffff to heaven

  8. Fun fact: “defenestrate” is a Czech word. Not only should Putin know it very well, he might get a first hand demonstration.

    1. Are you talking about the incidents in Prague in the 15th century ? Chechens have nothing to do with Czechia.. I guess it’s easy to confuse the two as they look and sound similar in English.

  9. Cinema always exaggerates, especially with how bad the villains look like, but I’ve never seen someone looks more evil and sinister than that Prigozhin guy…… I can’t believe there are people in the world who actually support these monsters
