Revealing the whistle-blower is a violation of federal law, a.k.a. a felony. if Trump manages to reveal that person he and anyone who helped him is a felon.
There are only three people who are allowed to know who the whistle-blower is, The whistle-blower, his/her lawyer, and the particular Inspector General this was reported to. That Inspector General is legally bound to not reveal that identity to anyone unless he personally decides it is impossible to protect that identity or it becomes necessary to reveal that person’s identity for purposes of prosecuting someone on the basis of that testimony. (DOJ already blithely passed on investigating so the second ship has sailed)
