Ron DeSantis cuts funding for DEI at state universities in Florida | USA TODAY

Governor Ron DeSantis declared "the whole experiment with DEI is coming to an end" as he signed new legislation targeting state universities.

A New College board revamped by DeSantis abolished the school's DEI office, and the college's interim president recently fired the diversity dean, a precursor to what other Florida universities could experience under SB 266, which was a centerpiece of DeSantis' aggressive legislative agenda this year.

As he gears up for a run for president, DeSantis has emphasized a culture war agenda against so-called "woke" policies, and universities have been a major focus. The governor has decried a campus culture that he views as overly focused on issues of racial, gender and LGBTQ equity.

    1. He better get his act into gear if he wants to persuade voters to overlook the great MAGA Agenda to save America that got him elected Gov. Of Florida. DeSantis is a disciple of Trump implementing the MAGA AGENDA here in Florida with excellence and dominance, shutting down/out the radical Dem agenda and ideology! Amen!

    2. He will be. He’s not the best sweet talker ever, but his no nonsense attitude has been a blessing to Florida.

  1. If DeSantis makes a good/decent showing, he will be set to run more effectively in 2028 and beyond, but this cycle belongs to President Trump…

  2. Oh but it’s OK for him to use the people’s taxpayers to keep campaign in different .States 🙄 🤔

  3. DeSantis is on his way to being severely unsuccessful in any political campaign and also sinking the entire State of Florida Economy. DeSantis is one of the worst state governors in the U.S. today next to Texas governor, Greg Abbot.

    1. Florida’s economy is booming. We have one of the best economies in the states, and it is continuing to grow. It would actually make you look a little smarter if you actually did a little fact checking before you toss out stuff you have no clue about.

    2. @A Florida Son For starters, I do not come on social media to say a bunch of stuff just to make nice and to please other people that are unknown to me. Secondly, for you to say to someone that you yourself do not know at all that they should fact check on their comments and mention that they do not have a clue to what they are talking about is pretty pathetic and totally pitiful. With all that Governor DeSantis has done in Florida up to this point that really could affect the state of Florida economy, the truth is that if DeSantis goes much further with the LGBTQIA+ community, his pathetic battle against Disney and trying to control what K through 12th grade along with colleges/universities are learning about in classrooms, DeSantis and the state of Florida will end up losing more than what would be gained. And, it is not a matter of if that will happen, but when…..

    3. @A Florida Son People should absolutely do their own research! Citing the sources of the info that you presented would also be helpful! 😊

    4. @Josh Austin When a respectful, civil request for authentic source material has been made depending on what words I have used in any of my comments, I do my best to share as much info of that source material that I can find. But, when A Florida Son spoke to me with the words he used in his reply to my initial comment the way that he did, I found no need to provide any source material on what I said in my initial comment. No respect, no civility.

  4. DEI could be taken to such radical extremes as to normalize perversions and deviant lifestyles, as could radical right wing extremists pervert the intention of DEI as to ratify dogmas exclusively serving the interests of superiority.
This is a fine line tightrope to traverse requiring a balance pole of equal weight between left and right least hazard the fall of all who could benefit from this program.

  5. Yeah and he didn’t have to get a bill passed that allows him to remain guv’nuh of FL. while campaigning for president…🙄.

    1. And Florida was one of only give states to have that law. He caught Florida up to the majority of the rest of the US. It’s not the big deal you think it is.

  6. Desantis – do something useful for once. Maybe feed the hungry kids in your schools. Why are you wasting taxpayers money on this nonsense.

  7. Y

DeSantis is getting more evil everyday. I hope karma gets him sooner than later.
