Senate Democrats will vote on a bill that would make Roe v. Wade the law of the land

Senate Democrats will vote on Wednesday on a bill that would make Roe v. Wade the law of the land and head off a Supreme Court decision that could leave states the sole authority on whether to restrict abortion.

The decision to move swiftly on legislation follows the leak of a draft opinion from the Supreme Court Tuesday that suggests the nation's highest court will overturn the landmark case that guaranteed the constitutional right to abortion.

The bill – introduced by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., late Tuesday evening – does not have the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster in the 50-50 Senate, but marks Democrats' first legislative attempt to enshrine the right to abortion into law since the leak.

  1. God’s abortion tonic: Numbers 5:22 “May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or YOUR WOMB MISCARRIES”

    1. Having abortion being codified at the federal level is a very good thing for there is NOTHING wrong with it at all.

  2. Hopefully abortion being codified at the federal level will happen for our country needs it so very much.

    1. I agree if my two non binary daughters who are both on hormone blockers and one of whom identifies as a flamingo can’t get an abortion, I mean what is this world coming to

    1. Recently a religious organization was required to pay $87,000,000.00 for sexual misconduct dating back to 1950. Not enough monetary compensation. It should have been $500,000,000.00.

All religious organizations should be required to pay: federal, state, County and property taxes. They should be required to do bookkeeping.

  3. “Despite some politicians saying that they want to “codify Roe,” Congress isn’t looking to enshrine Roe in law. That’s because Roe v. Wade hasn’t been in place since 1992. The Supreme Court’s Planned Parenthood. v. Casey ruling affirmed it, but also modified it in significant ways.
In Casey, the court upheld Roe’s holding that a woman has the right to choose to terminate a pregnancy up to the point of fetal viability and that states could restrict abortion after that point, subject to exceptions to protect the life or health of the pregnant woman. But the Casey court concluded that Roe too severely limited state regulation prior to fetal viability and held that states could impose restrictions on abortion throughout pregnancy to protect potential life as well as to protect maternal health – including during the first trimester.”
Not as open and close case as they want you to believe!!!

  5. The federal government does not have the constitutional authority to do so

    1. @Master Imaginariumdooblepopper so by your reasoning Brown V Board should not have overturned Plessy v Ferguson … you know because … precedent and all 🤷

    2. @Master Imaginariumdooblepopper lol, no they did not commit perjury 😂😂😂

    3. @California Hiking Adventures so by your reasoning, the federal government has no authority to protect people and enforce Brown v. Board you know, constitutional authority and all

  6. This bill will be 6000 pages and include a bunch of things not related to the subject, it’ll pass over night and the next thing we know the rich will be richer once again and you won’t be able to make ends meet. It’s time we the people represented ourselves. Get rid of the senate and the house and turn it into an app.

  7. It is absolutely baffling to me. That we have come to this day and age. Where the world wants to make abortion perfectly normal and fine across the land. People need to look at what Roe versus Wade started out as. It was for rape. Or serious risk for the mother or the child. It was never I mean never meant. For a way of birth control it absolutely sickens me. That women actually want to stand up and say it’s their right. To murder their own baby our country has gone to hell. And it’s very very sad to see

    1. @Gwen Leonard if you don’t know that then you’re pretty bad off. Just look at the statistics they’re all there

    2. @Eric Jordan agreed. I have heard so many women discussing how many abortions they had like it was a badge of honor. Some women in their 20s have had several and don’t see it as a sign to change their behavior. I have heard women describing how they drink too much and black out and don’t know who got them pregnant. This would force both women and men rethink their behavior.

    3. @Eric Jordan What you said in your reply to my comment is a hell of a thing to say to someone who you very clearly do not know at all. With that being said, for you to make a claim like you did here about lots of women and young girls using abortion as a form of birth control, you need to provide the actual proof to back that up instead of just saying look at the stats and everything. If the actual proof behind what you claim here does not get provided, what you said here will most likely be viewed as nothing more than a lot of hot air that goes nowhere in the minds of a lot of people here on YouTube.

    4. @Gwen Leonard will look whatever happened to you or whatever the case may be I don’t know the situation. But I will tell you this I’m not doing your homework for you. You want to know the truth look it up study it. Because the sad fact is even if I looked it up and showed you you would still call me a liar so go ahead and do your own homework. All I’m saying is I know firsthand the majority of women use abortion. As a form of birth control I know several women my self. That have had an abortion as a form of birth control so please stop while you’re ahead

  8. okay, so if life starts at conception than does that mean a girl/woman can get child support immediately from the boy/man or if he can’t afford child support than his parents have to pay. And if the girl/woman has a miscarriage does she have to pay that money back. Does this mean that budget cuts to programs for prenatal heath care will be reinstated and increased. Does this mean that the federal and state governments are prepared to care for those children born into a system, already over loaded and under staffed, from parents who can not afford to raise a child. Does this mean that the federal government is going to increase the minimum wage to a livable wage so those families can adequately raise that child. Is the federal government prepared to bring back welfare programs for communities that are living in the poverty level and under educated perpetuating generations trapped in poverty. IF YOU SAY YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN AND ARE PROTECTING LIFE…LAST TIME I CHECKED A CHILD’S LIFE IS FROM 0-18 YEARS OF AGE…ARE YOU PREPARED TO HELP RAISE THOSE CHILDREN! TO PUT A ROOF OVER THEIR HEADS, FOOD IN THEIR STOMACHES, TO BUILD ORPHANAGES, EDUCATE THEM AND PROVIDE HEATH CARE.

  9. It’s baffling to me that its 2022 we are still saying my body my choice. My kids have their own bodies, their own everything, how dare I say you don’t have that right to live just because your BODY is growing in mine. Do you know how horrific abortion is? What really happens?? Limbs pulled apart, saline solution burning a baby from the inside out and more? How barbaric to tell another you don’t have a right to life because it’s MY body!!

  10. I’m furious that a baby has no rights but we want to scream it’s my body and my choice. Why doesn’t a baby have a right not to be ripped apart or burn alive?!!!
