  1. For every one person who dies from COVID-19:
    19 more require hospitalization.
18 of those will have permanent heart damage for the rest of their lives.
10 will have permanent lung damage.
    3 will have strokes.
2 will have neurological damage that leads to chronic weakness and loss of coordination.
2 will have neurological damage that leads to loss of cognitive function.
So now all of a sudden, that “but it’s only 1% fatal!” becomes:
    3,282,000 people dead.
    62,358,000 hospitalized.
59,076,000 people with permanent heart damage.
32,820,000 people with permanent lung damage.
    9,846,000 people with strokes.
    6,564,000 people with muscle weakness.
6,564,000 people with loss of cognitive function.
That’s the thing that the people who keep going on about “only 1% dead, what’s the big deal?” don’t get.

Focus on addressing folks who don’t think this is real! Not the cultists, just the folks who see all the misinformation and don’t know what to believe. Spend more time on education. Don’t just say Covid is serious threat.
    EDUCATE!
-Do masks really work? DEMONSTRATE how they work and address all the myths.
-Is Covid really that much worst than flu? (Yes, I get it, but MANY don’t. SPEAK TO THEM. WE MUST EDUCATE them so they COMPLY with safety standard)
-Instead of just tracking deaths and cases, track HOSPITAL CAPACITY. Show THOSE numbers. 100k people sick, does not have the same effect of showing a hospital with no beds left and 3 dead doctors.
EDUCATION IS KEY to saving us!

    2. A nation that has swallowed the poison pill of “tolerance” will proceed to tolerate any grift perpetrated against them. Until the people learn from their mistakes and smoke the rich out of their mansions and burn every church to their ground will perhaps they save themselves. Until then, this degenerate mass of imbeciles deserve everything they get.

    1. Higgs Boson dems stopped Trump’s ban on international flights back in January, so your comment has holes

    2. Youre my new brutal ramen noodle, phukkbunny, I am the extinction of the entire serpent bloodline.. Literally.. Ain’t it spectacular

    3. @Wigg Picker*ROFL!!* Ok, _demon slurper.._ I really like how you’re both weird and forgettable at the same time… but I think you may need professional help…

    1. @Democrat Cities Suck why? In other countries maybe not. But in America its bad. This virus spread easily.

  2. Of course we can count on children to do the right things like wear masks and social distance in hallways.

(That’s sarcasm, for Trump supports who don’t get it)

    1. EU and U.S. Covid-19 Statistics, including U.S. Children as of 08.06.20
      EU Population=~445.2 million
      EU Cases=1,461,441
      EU Deaths=136,863
      EU Percent infected= ~0.39%
EU Chance of death after infection=~9.37%
      https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/cases-2019-ncov-eueea
      U.S. Population=~329 million
      U.S. Cases=4,802,491
      U.S. Deaths=157,631
U.S. Nursing home related deaths=~60,000 (some Governors mandated nursing homes to accept suspected and/or confirmed covid positive clients, which may, in part, account for these deaths)
      U.S. Percent infected=~1.46%
U.S. Chance of death after infection=~3.28%
U.S. Tests performed=65,756,307 (approximately Twice as many as the EU)
      Speculative guesstimates:
      1. If EU did as many tests as the U.S., reports might show 0.78% of the EU population infected.
      2. If some U.S. governor’s did not mandate nursing homes to accept COVID-19 positive/suspected clients, US death toll may look something like 110,000.

In regards to children, many are either asymptomatic vectors (commonly conflated with immunity) or have mild symptoms. As of May 16, 2020, 176 U.S. children under the age of 18 have died of the flu, and some months have passed since then; so, current numbers are likely higher. Currently, there have been 180 U.S. deaths for people from ages 1 to 24 years of age due to COVID-19 (obviously some of these 180 deaths are probably not children), It appears that the lethality of covid-19 in pediatric patients is equal to or less than the flu’s. However, there is anecdotal evidence suggesting a possibility of medium to long-term damage in some individuals who had been afflicted with COVID-19

    2. @Robert No, your numbers might be right but your guesstimates are wrong. A higher number of infections does not come from a higher number of tests! Why does the EU perform less tests than the US? Because they don’t need to. I am from germany and we have extensive contact tracing in place. But because our case numbers dropped so much our labs aren’t nearly working at full capacity anymore. So why is the death toll of europe higher than americas? Because in some places like italy, spain and england, their health care systems were completly overwhelmed and they simply couldn’t treat people anymore which obviously leads to a higher death toll. But you can not deny the fact that the EU braught infections under control by simply wearing masks and having lockdown systems in place while the US does not have any kind of system or leadership in place to deal with this situation.

  3. Ah, these Republicans. They just love checking how full their gas tanks are with lighters.

    1. @MrPurpleHoops – Logan I don’t know what’s in your mind or heart, but if you stay in a democrat city these days, your apartment and your car are likely to end up on fire…

    2. @Democrat Cities Suck I agree, rational investments are important. That’s why I used my allowance to buy my laptop this month. Now I’m working on it daily.

    3. @Democrat Cities Suck There are things a lot more valuable to individuals than a car or a house. I agree these items are important for life to function normally, but they aren’t the only thing that are important to people.

    4. @MrPurpleHoops – Logan If you don’t want to be poor, it’s more important to buy things that increase in value than it is to buy things that quickly lose value. If you gave most poor people a million dollars, they would be poor again in a few years. If you gave most (self made) rich people a million dollars, they would turn it into two million in a few years…

  4. Charles Darwin approves this photo. He’s going to have a busy award season with the USA’s stupidity.

  5. Wearing masks is not just a health issue. It’s also an intelligence test. No surprise that conservatives are failing that test.

    2. @Jeanne Stellfoxi wonder how many people that dont wash their hands often pick their nose dont wash hands before and after eating/ restroom share blunts etc

    3. Watch the online classes. If your child is getting lessons online pay attention to what the teacher is saying. They may be brainwashing your child with social justice garbage.

  6. Trumps leadership. He doesn’t believe in the science of the Medical Expertise from CDC. Now your children going to school, are the human equivalent of a virus in a petri dish. Parents: make the right decisions for YOUR children!

  7. The “billionaire” who hides his tax returns.
The “genius” who hides his college grades.
The “Commander-in-Chief”, who never wore a uniform, who sacked Generals smarter than him; and who dodged the draft AND who is scared to address Russian bounties with Putin or acknowledge them at all.
The “self-made man” who tax dodged a $413M “gift” from daddy’s real estate empire.
The “businessman” who bankrupted 3 casinos and lost over $1B in 10 yrs.
The “playboy” who pays for $??.
The “Christian”, twice-divorced philanderer, who never asks God for forgiveness.
The “man of the Bible” who declined to name even one of his favorite Bible verses.
    The “philanthropist” who defrauds charity.
The “patriot” who dodged the draft; family tradition: grandfather was kicked out of Bavaria for draft-dodging, father bribed a doctor tenant to exempt Donald from military service.
The “paragon of honesty” whose new immigration rules would have kept his and his senior anti-immigration adviser Stephen Miller’s grandparents out.
The “steadfast defender of our nation’s borders” who married an alleged undocumented immigrant and illegal worker who sponsored her parents into the country by “chain migration”.
The “staunch Republican” who donated to Democrats at all gov’t levels: Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Kerry, Anthony Weiner, Harry Reid, Andrew Cuomo, Terry McAuliffe, Eliot Spitzer.
The “innocent man” who refuses to testify.
The “President” who takes no responsibility.
The “tough, strong man” who wears makeup and hairspray but almost never a mask.

  8. “Students And Parents Voice Concerns As Georgia Schools Reopen Amid Coronavirus” motivating us, the people of America, to redouble our efforts to rapidly find out at any given moment, including even while On-line, who among us are unwittingly contagious (i.e. pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic) in order to convince them to call their doctor and self-quarantine per their doctor in hopes of stopping this pandemic before all our schools here in the U.S. are shut down for in-person learning starting with those in Georgia.

  9. Cultist Republicans killing their own, their smallest children are among the severely ill. This is what happens when science and reason are beyond their grasp…tragic.

  10. If, she hadn’t taken the picture…the hallway wouldn’t have been crowded according to trump logic.
    : )

  11. I was a high school teacher for 42 years. This looks pretty typical of a high school during a class change. Without masks, this is a disaster.

  12. Schools can be more packed than prisons, and we’ve seen how Covid has ravaged those places already. Students in packed places during a pandemic, no dice!
