Take Heart That Americans Still Believe In Democracy; Early Vote Numbers Prove It | Rachel Maddow

Rachel Maddow points out that beyond guessing what the high early vote turnout means for either candidate, what it shows for sure is that Donald Trump authoritarian behavior hasn't discouraged Americans from believing that they have a voice through their vote. 1. @vrnc M dont worry, do what you think is right, those that hate you for your beliefs are bigoted and believe not everyone has a voice.

    2. @One Love got it wrong cream puff. Democrats are the party of slavery and hate to anyone who thinks out of their line of thought.

    1. Ironic would be if the devil would say God bless you…but that job has already been taken.

    1. @Beatrice M – Yup Dummy! #TRUMP2020

    2. @Beatrice M & itโ€™s a RED TSUNAMI COMING dear – sorry ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

    3. @Clint Johnson Thanks Clint- that’s one of the first well thought through and articulately expressed responses I have read from someone with whom I might disagree. Regardless of your opinion on Trump or the failures of blue and red- I am thankful to at least have an option to these last four years. Take good care.

  1. Take Heart too that at this strange time the entire World is watching America. They’re watching democracy in action. Hopefully, America turns out to vote, and shows how, or why, or when, or what for, we Vote. Freedom to Vote.

    1. dothemathright 1111 yeah, and were laughing right back at them. Name a country thatโ€™s better than the USA. We are original and special and thereโ€™s no better place to realize your dreams.

    2. @OS Arktis
wyoming has 3 electoral votes, 1 for 135k voters. california has 55 electoral votes, 1 for every 411k voters. its easier to get electoral votes in smaller states than bigger states. totally out of proportion.

states are only red or blue because of the system we have in place now. there are republicans who live in california and texas or democrats who live in georgia and texas. people living in a state that is opposite of their political party may as well not vote.

it is the point of an election to sway people into believing your way of doing things is the right and best way to get things done. democrats would vote republican if they agreed republicans had good ideas and republicans would vote democrat if they agreed that democrats had good ideas.

    3. @Ace Diamonds That’s the point, it isn’t supposed to be proportional or the system wouldn’t work. If each state got a vote per 100k people youd be back to square one.

States are only red or blue due to the bipartisan system of our government. It’s supposed to be more about individuals than parties but this is what it’s devolvef into. Agreed on the vote, now imagine that but based on the country as a whole. If the Electoral College is abolished then people in smaller states may as well not even vote. They’re easily overruled by the larger states.

That’s how it SHOULD be, optimally. But as you know both sides will ignore a candidate purely based on their affiliation, and furthermore the parties themselves filter out who wr get further, such as the Liberals case with Bernie vs Biden.

    4. @DrNox Oh sweetheart, male or female, I so very want it an aberration (Good word btw.) too. Alas, ohhha. Hold me, I’m frightened!

    1. Your vote goes straight to the garbage
You people still the think the government cares about you ,what a shame

    1. We the people of the united states of America do hear by recognize that all men are created equal in the eyes of God.
Does we the people mean something more to you now? Only 1 of our Political Parties has its roots founded on this Universal Truth & it is not the Democrat party.

    2. @Jose Fernandez Sorry Jose this black man walked away from the lying democrats just like the 37% of the other blacks who see that Trump is better than any lie Joe Biden can tell.
Arizona = Trump 2020 we had enough of the DNC lies.

    1. @OnPointFirearms doctors maybe, medical doctors doubtfully support Trump, he has undetermined and belittled their work and that of experts. The ACA may not be perfect but Trump still has no plan for 5 years nothing. If he get ACA repealed then it only benefits the insurance companies because they want pre existing conditions gone and trump is being played or in on it. Corrupt

    2. @Todd Daniel You might be surprised to know that not unlike Biden supporters, fans of Trump come from all walks of life. You cannot paint the electorate with such broad strokes. There are people smarter and dumber than yourself on both sides of the aisle. WE are a nation split right now the middle. And I’m telling you, a lot of brilliant people (doctors included) are voting for Trump– again, AND for the first time.

    3. @OnPointFirearms I am sure there are some doctors that will but I would say the larger majority won’t. Also I believe Trump would have stood a much better chance of winning if he had acted like an adult on the virus. I believe that a the largest majority of his voters are middle aged white men by a huge margin too

  2. There can be no doubt that those in Belarus and Hong Kong etc. will be taking heart for what the American people have decided to show the world.
The above Draft is more than a bit off track – OOps I’m actually referring to the amazing turnout in early voting and people deciding to take control of their futures in such a unified way.
Many apologies for the previous incarnation.

    1. @M John Remember when soup kitchen Obama was destroying the country???? That’s why we have TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP. MAGA MAGA MAGA MAGA

  3. This is exactly what I was thinking today. That this historically high early vote turnout is sending a clear, loud message to the world that the US is not a dead democracy. We are not a corpse so the vultures can stop circling. Nov 3 is going to be a bright, bright sunshiny day.

    1. @W John that is such a lame reply- Most of the time I don’t even bother replying because the Trump folks are not interested in real facts or valid research. On the chance that you rise above the usual – Here is some investigative result for you. Please note that the following two cases are not from media reports but from the office of the state AG. Blessings. Dave paul

    1. It is almost as astonishing as number of people who still support the corrupt narcissist Trump. Who have single handedly eliminated the word view that Americans are decent people. Now they know a good percentage of us are Fascists.

    2. @Matthew Huszarik and how are americans fascists? How can you say that? Cite something. The news has you on your knees, bent over – and TAKING it.

    3. @Matthew Huszarik What proof do you have that Americans are Fascists? None. I am surprised that you didn’t throw in racists, homophobic.

  4. I hand delivered my absentee ballot to my local elections board office on Sept. 22 and it was Accepted! Done and Done!

  5. The solution is turn off your kind of media, please stop talking about God in the way the media acts. This is too much!

  6. Well, it is Halloween, it is a full moon, the election is in 4 days and the scariest thing I see happening tonight is turning the clock back one hour !
Why do we need an additional hour of 2020 ? WTF !

    1. Or we could make like Tara Reid and say no to Biden. It didnโ€™t do her much good, but it may work for us.

    2. Stormy Daniels said that it was the worst 90 seconds of her life…..hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

  7. You’ve been wrong about everything you’ve said for the past 4 years. How do you still have an audience?

    1. @Ugly German Truths – Youโ€™re too funny ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚! Well researched?!? Everything she says is BS ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ

    2. @Ugly German Truths “Trump can win blah blah blah states and…still lose.”

      Maddcow 2016.

      Researched them facts heavily huh

    3. @James Ficarro Oh, yes, James… You’re right. OAN is the network of truth… so why are you hanging out on a MSNBC video comment section? Admit it. You’re attracted to her… You love her bright brown eyes, don’t you??? It’s okay… You watch her videos, and touch yourself, don’t you?

    4. @Cindee K The obviously question is you since youโ€™re here on msnbc channel lol
