  1. Get someone to calculate the future value and present value of the money they offer. Teachers donot bend . Politican students donot go to public school s. Our money send them to overseas schools , colleges and universities. Teachers unite and let us fight one bottle.

  2. This is why I left Jamaica to teach overseas…tax free salary, free housing and utilities, free health insurance and tuition for my children. Teachers in Jamaica shouldn’t settle for less. There are many better opportunities overseas!!! 🇦🇪🇯🇲

    1. @Carol Terrelonge true but what they are offering there is better than what teachers are getting here. They can send back money to JA and buy a house in a jiffy

  3. It seems when it comes on to wages for teachers and police its normally a struggle for different nations not just Jamaica. Therefore the finance minister has to draft up a figure that’s reasonable for the teachers and police to agree. In a business approach the philosophy is to pay enough for what the position stipulates and not go over board. This is a worldwide approach and it will never change.

    1. I agree because the people of this country can be tax more for the services they provide to teach

  4. These teachers in Jamaica is the highest paid in publicsector , they have benefits that no other teachers in the world , Jamaica Schools is closed for months per year due to various holidays and school breaks plus they’re getting personal days , sick days and vacation time every year inwhich they get payed every month regardless , they even get priority House’s and loans..

    1. @Verone Frater that’s not true, work load in the uk and America is extremely high that why they have teacher shortages in these countries. Anxiety and depression is also very high amongst staff which results in high level of staff turnover and absences within schools!

    2. Teachers are not paid for summer holidays, get the facts. Countries in the world the paid teachers very well economy is booming. Get the facts plzzz

  5. This government must remember that teacher is the backbone of the country no teacher no educaciĂłn they must be treated with honour they are the ones who educate all who is in control of this country

  6. So proud of the teachers… stand up for your right!!!! Don’t take crumbs from the table….

  7. Man saying a bunch of nothing!! Do you think Jamaicans will be fooled forever? Make this be a powerful lesson to the PNP; that Jamaicans no longer take garbage from politicians. Thank you, Miss Jackson, for being straightforward.

  8. I have to respect the teachers for this. Show these ministers that we are not foolish enough to take anything from them

  9. TEACHERS UNITE! Yes TEACHERS UNITE!! We deserve BETTER the nation’s Educators deserve livable wages! Just like anybody else

  10. Teachers, Police,Nurses etc….just to name a few, truly deserve way more. They are some of the most under paid, under appreciated workers. If the government can’t pay them properly, then at least give them some sort of incentive , eg: food vouchers, housing / rent allowance, gas / travel allowances, daycare allowance etc…. Off set some of these people everyday needs. These people are the backbone of our society/ country. We have to treat them better. You don’t want to keep on loosing them.

  11. Kudos to the Teachers for holding strong in rejecting the ‘old’ offer – increases in the range of $30K – $40K for graduates!!. This man is so arrogant and combative [9:06]

  12. Teachers Teachers Teachers!!!! The GOJ will never be able to pay you the salaries you deserve without borrowing money to do so, they have lost the Bauxite earnings and the country is not earning enough money to satisfy public sector demands, what you need to do next contract is bargain for a fortnightly wage schedule instead of a monthly, then the cash flow with the increase will be more beneficialâś…
