Texas Bearing Burden Of Failure To Heed Cold Weather Lesson Ten Years Ago | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC

    1. @Steven S also people act like this happens everyday in Texas. It’s a natural disaster. Yes maybe the power company was caught with its pants down, but this was a cold snap that crushed records with snow totals that also crushed records. Hindsight is 20/20 we can woulda shoulda coulda all day long. You can’t predict the future, it would be nice if we could, but we can’t. We can’t sit and spend billions or trillions of dollars to sit and be ready every day for a disaster that may only happen only once every 10 20 or even 100 years.

    2. @Craig Norris I need to know what your electric company is to verify your claim that you frequently experience three-day power outages. It doesn’t sound credible

    1. It sucks here right now, my pipes almost froze and I was barely able to save it, and covid is horrible as well because of idiots who don’t wear masks (pretty much everyone in my county)

    2. It’s been rough here in Texas, but we’re Texans, we’re strong, we’re getting through this, and we love our state (most of us anyway!). ❤️❤️

    3. @Big Lion Official Youtube Channel
My naturopath, who knows how to treat Covid naturally, says it’s no worse than the flu (when treated naturally). I’m not scared of Covid. I got it and recovered just fine—so did many others close to me. We don’t need to wear a mask. We don’t need to wreck our economy. We just need common sense in treating it.

    1. Oh, wait, I know…. this is the clearly the result of all those Paris measures against global warming,… and the libs test it on Texas first to scare them into fashist maoist something something.
Also: DON’T TELL ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE!

    2. There are plenty of windturbines and solar energy plants in countries with a lot colder climate without any problems due to cold weather.
There countries also do not have problems with gas and oil plants and cold weather.

    3. The power grid in the US is unreliable now, especially with the “new green deal” and the destruction of much needed pipelines. AND the Democratic Party’s pledge to totally and completely destroy the coal industry, along with much of the US oil industry, which will inevitably make the US energy dependent on countries who hate our guts once again.

Currently electric cars can barely last a few hours driving time. Of course, that will limit where people can travel without the government knowing about it (TSA tracks everyone on trains/planes)

SHAME on the Democratic Party pledge to make our power grid
      even worse and more unreliable because of the “green” policies they have promised to enact;
while mandating everyone go all electric with heat/cooking/transportation.

But I do need to fully accept the will of the people,

this is exactly what Biden supporters voted for

they knew the policies the Democrats said they would enact

      before they voted.

So Biden supporters clearly voted for a compromised power grid.

And so I must accept it and say well, that’s what they wanted
and there is nothing I can do about it.

    4. @John Doe The green new deal is at this moment only a proposal to be discussed. Nothing is implementeren and for sure not in Texas. Why do other states with colder weather not have similar problems?
By the way your gas plants turn out to be more vulnerable to cold than wind and solar energy.
What is known to help is build your powergrids and powerplants in such a way that they can handle low temperatures. If you don’t know how to do that ask for advice in your Northern states or Canada or the Northern European countries.

    1. Oops you forgot to mention internet..the thing you are passing and waxing nostalgic about one of the most tumultuous centuries in human history..

    2. @Ade M they also like to place chemical plants near hospitals and schools, so when they explode from poor oversight they are right in the blast radius. regulations are such terrible terrible things, its why many companies love texas.

    3. @Ral Deform it’s not robbed they didn’t claim it just because they were living on it doesn’t make it their

  1. Texas prefers assault rifles over windmills. 17 yr old Swedish girls would make better governors for Texas than the Jethro Clampetts they have now.

    1. (Q)McCarthy Republicans take no responsibility for Texas , Republicans are moron traitors to America, never forget Jan 6 capital attack resulting in cops being killed by Trump supporters

    2. (Q)McCarthy Republicans take no responsibility for Texas , Republicans are moron traitors to America, never forget Jan 6 capital attack resulting in cops being killed by Trump supporters

  2. Perhaps the citizens of the state of Texas should consider a change in leadership in Government. Just sayin’ 🤷🏿‍♂️.

    1. @TheHopetown LOL I see what y’all did there! Tell me, was it Harvard or Yale y’all went to? You clever little Trumpanzee! :o)

    2. @David H. – No, no…an intellect of *that* depth could *only* have sprung forth from the hallowed halls of…
      *”T*^*^ University”.* 😂

    3. @studivan Yep, I’m sure he has a powerful generator! Hopefully, he will have a “warm” welcome when he returns to Texas, and I don’t mean his house!. That pos disgusted me before. Now, I don’t have words to express my rage at him and the other corrupt Republicans who are at fault. My husband and I lived in Houston back in the mid-80s. The pipes froze in our apartment complex because nothing was insulated, and had no water for several days. It sounds like nothing has improved and, in fact, left to deteriorate in over the past three decades! Who is going to do something about this issue, and not sweep it under the rug again?

    1. @R D I guess, she has psychic power. The green new deal is not implemented. It is a proposal to be discussed.
How did she influence the power system in Texas?
When were the elektriciteit plants in Texas built?
      When was AOC born?
When did AOC become a NY representative?

    2. @Okkie Trooy I admit, I was somewhat intrigued at how fox brought AOC and the green new deal directly into the conversation about the electric grid failure. As if somehow that made sense. As if somehow there was a connection. As if somehow the blame didn’t belong elsewhere. But nope, can’t speak that. Must use every opportunity to dis AOC.
      Just bizarre, they are.

    1. Washington has been highly over taken by wealthy donors. Texas is just part of wealth that is being catered to. These wealthy donors are Capitalist’s. So what does a Capitalist’s do? They bleed the economic life out of every nation they do business in. They leave the depleted resources, damaged environments and debts behind and move on to destroy the economic value from another nation. In the more recent decades they have taken riches from the US and moved it to impoverished nations and exploited cheap labor to produce cheap and sell at gouging profits. Yes indeed… the capitalist’s build up a nation and then they destroy it. All in the name of GREED. People are of no value to them unless they can be bought and used CHEAPLY. “Today we strip mine the Earth of all it’s value. The Moon is next”.

The term Capitalism is self explanatory. It means to Capitalize on the cheapest operational costs to deliver the highest profit margins. Anything that becomes a burdensome costs to a Capitalist is negative in the profit margin. Too many negatives just means it’s time to move the business to a nation where these costs are much lower. Trust me, they don’t use their money to move jobs from one nation to another. That’s why the national debt is so high. We the People (are) funding their get rich and richer and richer schemes. People by and large have been Duped.

  3. Texans are literally collecting snow to turn into drinking water and no electric …
Rafael Edward Cruz is jet-setting in Cancun.

    1. Cruz has always been more interested in his own welfare and hitches his star to whatever he can to improve his position. Even to lying to the people about a stolen election, about election fraud that resulted in death and disaster at the Capitol.
So why would you expect him to stick around in his state when his people are freezing and their homes are suffering lack of water and burst piping.
This was his version of the Marie Antoinette quote – let them eat cake – in Cancun?

    2. @Lenora Aronel “Bad idea. It could lead to an epidemic of dysentery, or worse, given your southern position.”

    1. Texas, a state that wants to be a country that can’t and won’t regulate their own power supply. Typical sh*thole country behavior. Imbeciles.

  4. Republicans need to take responsibility where’s Ted Cruz hiding not doing his job cracked me up I guess the people in Texas have a big problem if they keep letting the same Republicans get away with it and not protecting the people of Texas wow this is shameful.

    1. Fair weather Ted,… Cancun Cruz,…*”If he’s Lying he’s Flying Ted ‘Cancun’ Cruz”*…yeah, that’s the one.

    1. As long as you have an “R” behind your name and run your mouth against the “Socialist Lib Democrats”, and *especially* if you’re a lying P0S hypocrite, your state-wide office is safe in Texas.

    1. I’m fascinated by people who despise someone who just wants law & order & goodness??? How dark does one need to be to Hate good????

    2. @Sheila Boston they use laser weapons to destroy other satellites from other countries which is why Trump brought space force into the light! Laugh & go back to sleep!

    1. @John Swo I am glad I am a dinosaur at times. I remember growing up with Ike in office, the last honorable Republican. He warned us to be careful about the military-industrial complex, the rampaging herds of bloodthirsty velociraptors, selling bunk drugs to drunk bugs, and I remember well his admonition to never play leapfrog with a unicorn. Too bad he didn’t warn us about the GOP.

    3. @Isaac Hawk *_The GOP has revealed that it was actually Obama that sank the Titanic, not an iceberg; Joe Biden started the Korean war, invented athlete’s foot, twerking, & tornadoes; & Hunter Biden is responsible for Pauly Shore movies, bedbugs at the Trump hotels, the Macarena, & halitosis in dogs.  Nancy Pelosi is making a coat out of dalmatian puppies for AOC and Kamala Harris, George Soros faked the moon landing, while Hillary’s emails are destroying the rain forest._*
