So defund police still?
You need to learn what the defund thing is actually about. It’s not about getting rid of the police, just shifting some of what they do to other agencies where police aren’t really necessary. Look into it. I was against it as well until I found out what it was actually about.
But the police didn’t do anything in this situation so what is the point you’re trying to make?
@musiclogic She could have just walked into the police department right into the jail by herself. Don’t need Police right? If all criminals did that Police would be out of work and my Nephew’s job would be a lot easier. My Nephew is getting sick of going to calls where drunk Husbands and Wives are beating each other with blood all over the place and crying kids.

If only there was a budget you could dip into to help those paramedics, drs, nursing staffs and mental health funding.
I’ve been to many mental health calls, countless overdoses and a few suicides myself, having been attacked and even threatened with a loaded needle. I will NEVER go to one without a police escort, social workers are not equipped to go into a potentially violent environment alone. You can fund all the programs you like but if someone refuses help it won’t really make a difference as it’s unbelievably hard to get someone committed involuntarily. I believe funding should be increased to hire specific officers that are more equipped to deal with mental health. There’s a few officers specifically trained in it but not nearly enough. We could have the best of both worlds but we’re too busy arguing about semantics.

Police don’t prevent crime, they just clean up the mess. That woman needed help long before it became a police issue, but we only invest in police.

Tragic, but what’s worse is the CAS will use this excuse to take away hundreds of other children from their parent(‘s) without justification. They twist one person’s crime into a fake ongoing problem.
It is so awful that the poor four year old child and six month old baby got stabbed by their mother. How disgusting! I hope that they will be alright. Maybe the mother is suffering from some time of mental illness or maybe she is just plain crazy. I wish somebody else who is kind and gentle can take them.
If there wasn’t police maybe the kids wouldn’t survive.
