The answer is simple. Offer to pay workers in the tourism industry closer to what they make in developed countries. 20% of next to nothing is still next to nothing. If American hotels can pay workers $8 – 15 per hour, why can’t Jamaican hotels do the same when room rates here are comparable to those in developed countries? They need to keep raising rates until the jobs become more attractive.
