  1. Wow, thanks to the conductors for spotting that little boy. Potentially, save his life. Feel good story ❤❤❤

    1. Yes the engineer may have stopped the train and called but the conductor retrieved the child. That is called team work.

  2. Grateful he was spotted and the conductor acted brilliantly, I can’t imagine how relieved everyone was.

    1. Conductor didn’t do anything as they’re not the ones in the front of the train, literally have you ever been on a train before? The conductor is the one who punches your tickets.

    2. @Ham549 the conductors on Metro North punch tickets, must know platform lengths, railroad traffic signals, open and close doors, must know the physical characteristics of the railroad, as in what track they are on, also what to do in emergency situations. The conductor along with the rest of the crew, the other assistant conductors and the engineer are all responsible for the safety of the train and the passengers. The engineer is the one who probably made that call on the radio about the child being on the track, but the conductor is the one who got down there and retrieved the child. There is a lot of training to be a conductor. About a year or more. Every year a conductor must train and retest. Much more is involved than you know.

    3. @Jazz-makin-you-smile. Thank you for your very informative response! A relative whose father and grandfather both had worked their long lifetimes for the Southern Railway wanted to become an engineer or conductor 50 years ago. Both were extremely competitive positions. It broke his heart when he didn’t get either position. The railway companies apparently can choose the cream of the crop.

  3. Restores my faith in humanity the way he called it “emergency emergency” as soon as he saw it was a toddler–no hesitation

    1. I can’t celebrate till the parents are in jail. That took up a lot of other peoples times, concerns, worries, and also news that could have been spent on something far more important. Who cares about one baby. It was far from being hurt so no big deal.

  4. Why would the parents let a three year-old autistic child alone? It was a wonderful thing that the conductor could rescue the child safely. Courageous man with a big heart.

    1. They can run away really quickly. Kindly stop judging, it’s difficult enough for the parents without the horrific judgement they face from society. Kids with autism are known for doing this. It’s a thing, and extremely difficult and exhausting for the parents. Some kids manage to escape out of locked windows at night, and few accept their hand to be held at all. Many kids with autism have any sense of danger, and just want to run. Fast. And this seems very illogical and contradictory to nature, to most parents, as most children automatically crave the safety of their parents. A kid with autism can disappear out of you sight basically while you look at a traffic sign. Now imagine how stressful that can be! Many parents of autistic children suffer from extreme stress and exhaustion.

    2. @Diana Thomas
Thanks for that Diana. I have an autistic son who has literally picked locks and has taken keys for use later. Our home is like a prison for us all. It’s terrifying. He has escaped twice.
He will run and jump TOWARDS dangerous situations. He’s awesome. I love him to pieces.

  5. Thank God there are Still Great people in this World, 🌎 like that Train Conductor, who actually Pay Attention and Do Their Jobs!

    Now, to the next question….

What kind of parents/guardians let their 3 yr old child out of their sight and/or let them get on train tracks??!!!

CPS Better FOLLOW UP ON THIS AND NOT LET IT SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS! 😡

This scenario could have turned out horribly 😱😳
I’m so Thankful to that observant Train Conductor that saved that little boys life….❤️🙏❤️⭐️🙏❤️🙏

    1. Good parents.
      Well another judgy pants?
Little ones can be gone in a flash no matter how vigilant you are.
      You just have NO IDEA.

  6. As the mother of an autistic child that is my greatest fear is to have him elope for me and me not be able to find him and get hurt or worse be killed thank you to these employees of the train system that did the right thing and stop the train and got him you are angels God put you in that place at that moment for reason❤

  7. This’s a real hero….definition …
Most Americans think only polices and firefighters are the hero with pay good money ????

    1. The engineer operates the train. Unless you the conductor is actually Superman and used his X-ray and telescopic vision to see through the train walls and up ahead on the track and pull the brake before the engineer could see them.

  8. New York workers in the public sector are a different breed. The firemen, cops and folks in transportation are amazing . Hero is a word that is overused. AND these folks are heroes.

  9. Great job guys! Always nice to see some people who really care and are willing to do the right thing.

  10. When my autistic son started school he was in a normal class to integrate but used to be picked up by a teacher to take him to his special ed class, when they said he could walk there by himself all the other kids in his normal class were so worried about him the teacher had to take the whole class room to escort him just for their own peace of mind, these kids were 5yrs old kids!, my wife cried when the teacher told her, good little Aussie kids!

    1. Man, that’s just awesome !! Really good to know there are still some good people in the world today 😊

  11. The Metro North train crew worked together to bring the child to safety. The parents will probably be more vigilant than in the past. Thankfully the child did not get hurt.

  12. I cannot imagine how worried the parents must have been. Autistic kids tend to wander off. So wonderful he was spotted, and brought to safety and united with his family.
