A contingent of Ukrainian fighters who doggedly defended a steel mill in Mariupol for weeks have "fulfilled its combat mission," Ukrainian officials said, and efforts were underway to evacuate the last of the group.

“The Supreme Military Command ordered the commanders of the units stationed at Azovstal to save the lives of their personnel,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement. "Mariupol defenders are heroes of our time."

More than 260 Ukrainian troops were evacuated to areas controlled by Russian-backed separatists. The Kremlin called the exodus a mass surrender. Russian Defense Ministry video shows troops patting down and searching the fighters. Some were on stretchers as they were loaded onto the buses.

  1. I’m a bank robber, the police just surrounded the building, I came out with my hands up, and was rescuded by several kindly officers who evacuated me to the local prison.

  2. Lier country America declare of evacuation of ukranian soldier or valauntries . Russia given the mercy chance to America valauntries and ukraine soldier on the battlefield of Azobstal steel plant in ukraine.🇮🇳🇮🇳

  3. It is very interesting, that in ALL western media the expression “evacuated” is used.
And in all western countries the people laugh about it.
Our media is “synchronized” – this is a fact.

  4. Evacuated? I never thought that English is that metaphorical to define the simple thing: Azov Nazis have surrendered to the Russian troops without any conditions.

  5. if this was vise versa we would be seeing the surrendered troops being shot in their legs and having their throats slit. The SBU should be grateful that Russian army is professional

  6. Haha yes. Mission accomplished. The soldiers will be then taken to
“resorts in Siberia” for “workshops”, after undergoing a series of “interviews” and
receiving “electric and hydro therapies”.. Newspeak is strong with this one.

  7. 0:13 Since when have lieutenant colonels, in charge of hundreds or thousands of soldiers, been 20-something jobless plumbers with no military uniform in sight? I absolutely DEMAND the “Dark Angel” robo arm guy back!

  8. Military journalist Sladkov gives statistics about Azovstal:
    1. In total, more than 2,500 people were there when the surrender began
    2. Of these, Azov is 804 people.
    3. The total number of injured is 404, including 55 serious.
    4. Over 200 frozen corpses.
    5. Three Russian prisoners (1 officer, 2 soldiers)

  9. so they were rescued by Russian soldiers? I thought evacuating meant removing someone from danger safely. Am I wrong?

  10. If you look at the time line of this event it becomes clear that able bodied troops waving white flags surrendered with the evacuated wounded. Then like a damn bursting more surrendered. The narrative from Kiev of an ‘evacuation’ came much later in the day.
These ‘fighters’ retreated and hid underground. This was of no strategic purpose.
Almost daily they pleaded to be rescued but finally surrendered unconditionally.
