UK’s Prince Philip has died at age 99

Prince Philip, the lifelong companion of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, has died, Buckingham Palace announced Friday. He was 99.
In a statement, the palace said: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.
The duke had been admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London hospital on February 17 after feeling unwell. The palace later confirmed that he was being treated for an infection. On March 1, he was transferred to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, also in London, where doctors continued to treat the infection as well as undertake testing for a pre-existing heart condition. After heart surgery, the duke was discharged from hospital in mid-March.

  1. I know there’s so much controversy about the royals right now, but my heart goes out to the queen. Losing your husband of 73 years can’t be an easy thing.

    1. @Black Queen lmao that’s it… least I’m not mourning the death of someone I don’t personally know. I’m the deranged one tho 👌 😂

    2. @Muuri soras Yes, I’m pretty sure.

Nobody gave a rat’s behind that all of George III’s sons had mistresses, only whether they were forcing Parliament to foot their overdrafts or that the heir to the throne might be secretly married to a “papist”.

There were rumors about Queen Victoria and Brown, but these we not reported by the “responsible” press, and in any case had little basis in fact. The press weren’t hounding Victoria or her son spending their holidays on the French Riviera.

Controversy on public matters, before George V became the model for political neutrality: yes, occasionally. Controversy on what went on behind the curtains: no.

    1. Because they’d give their condolences if you lost a loved one. Give me a break. Have you forgotten what these evil people did to Diana? You people are delusional.

    2. @CoolfireX – she is not our Queen … she has no Scottish blood her Title is Queen Elizabeth the 2nd … Scotland has never had a Queen Elizabeth before her … so it’s a fucking insult

  2. I feel so sad for the Queen. To loose a partner after 73 years is extremely difficult to come to grips with. I really hope she does not follow him soon as so often happen in long marraiges. 😢😢

    1. Phil was nothing but a auld racist i was hoping him and the queen would live to the end of this year to witness Scotland leaving the UK 🙂

now it will just have to be the Queen

    1. @Shaz He fought in WW2. The British Empire and USA defeated Nazi’s and Japan – so NO, he helped millions get their freedom.

    2. @Abe Varis77 Was no death, like the fall of Rome. The British Parliament gave it up themselves. It is now the Commonwealth.

  3. I thought he’d be immortal but now as I woke up I heard the news that he died! May god blessed his soul.

If you don’t like our country, your obliged to leave. The monarchy is far more productive than your toxicity, stop spitting on dead people; no one wants to hear that especially when so many of us are in mourning.

    1. @Antonio Nuñez well, prince Phillip had his ups and downs. He was a ww2 veteran who was congratulated for his naval prowess during Sicily and the Indian Ocean campaigns. Originally the prince of Greece and Denmark he had to flee home when a child to escape a military coup putting financial strain on himself and his family before settling in Paris and moving to Scotland to attend school. He has a strong bond with the younger generation of the uk having established the Duke of Edinburgh awards for school children to explore and help their local community and wildlife which brings me on to his contribution to the WWF which he was fond of because of his bond with nature and was one of the first major celebrities to advocate the protection of animals. Yes his sister was a nazi, yes he was a racist but then again people who don’t have younger views sometimes are and yes he may have been her distant cousin but then again most royals of the time were and still some European royals still are. However he was the queen’s support her pillar you could say, yes her majesty may be the head of state but he was head of family a head that could be called a war hero and family man who was firm but fair

The queen once said in a speech that we will never truly know nor imagine how much Phillip has actually done for us.

So may this man with many demons but angels rest in peace. Whether you respect him or not that is your choice and by no means am I defending him but a man with a legacy has just passed so make what you will of the moment

    2. @Jackson I appreciate you responding to my comment. Now I have at least some of the basics of who this man was, obviously there’s much more about this man that I still don’t know much about. But at least you laid some of the foundation so for that I thank you. 😊

    2. @Alba1970 what forms of racism may i ask? someone just died, someone that was an influential figure and world figure. i wish he lived till 100 at least.

    3. @edgelord cocoa referred to people as slitty eyed referred to africans as spear chuckers among other racist comments over the years

    4. @Alba1970 oh well. that’s all in the past. i won’t ignore his comments but i won’t celebrate and mock his death

    1. You can thank a former British royal for that, given the way Henry the 8th redefined marriage with divorce

  4. As a former Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment . Now retired in the U.S.A. to all our friends and family here, Many many heartfelt gratitude to you from us for your condolences and kind and thoughtful words.

  5. Rest in peace Prince Philip. You lived a full life. Condolences and praying for comfort to the queen and the family

  6. As a Cricket fan I’m sure he’ll appreciate this….. sometimes you remember those who were caught on 99 than those who were 100 not out. RIP Duke. 🇬🇧🇬🇧

    2. I don’t know if that translates well to baseball. I can’t think of any great one-hitters (though I’m sure true baseball fans can name many). What’s really unjust are pitchers who have thrown no-hitters and lost.

    3. Alba1970
You think Scotland will leave by the end of the years. Haha 😂

Nicola Sturgeon really got you, she said herself until the pandemic is over, Scotland won’t leave. Even if it does end this year, she’s gonna ride of British tax to increase her corrupt government.

Utter Scam. She thinks people will forget about her recent affairs.

    4. I imagine his soul would be very disappointed..and yet he would still gracefully raise his bat to the balcony..and walk off into the light.

  7. “When you see a man open a car door for his wife, it’s either a new car or a new wife.” Prince Philip

  8. My heart goes out to the Queen and the Royal Family. He was such a great man. She was married to him for 73 years. That is simply magnificent.

    1. “Great man” does dying remove his sins, so many countries are still recovering from their tyranny. May God have mercy on his soul.

  9. Lived to be 99 and died in his sleep in his own bed – Rare luck in so many ways. What more could one possibly want.

    1. Even though they had money. It wasn’t the source of their happiness. Some might disagree.

  10. Imagine being married to the only man you ever loved for 73 years? What a love story. What a blessing. We should all be so lucky.
