Journalists from the USA TODAY Network discuss translating into Spanish the Texas House committee’s report on the shooting at Robb Elementary School.

They blew it, and then they blew it again. When a Texas House committee released its report about the school shooting in Uvalde, it said getting accurate information to the community was a systemic failure that took "a very real toll on the people of Uvalde."

"That was told to us multiple times, that the back and forth, or the out of context, or the mistruths or half truths were harmful in and of themselves," said state Rep. Joe Moody, vice chair of the investigative House committee, while releasing the report Sunday. He said the community and policy makers can't move forward without "a stabilizing force of facts." Officials had failed.

Then they provided those facts, in a report written in English, to a community that is more than 80% Hispanic or Latino, where half of residents age 5 or older speak a language other than English at home. The Spanish-only speakers were left out. They failed again.

  2. 🇲🇽🇺🇸On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in Uvalde, Texas, it was the first time in American history that brave and heroic city policemen responding to a school shooting and entered *INSIDE* a school building while THE SHOOTER WAS STILL ALIVE!

🚩🚔 *In the past police would surround buildings, hide behind their patrol cars and shout at the killer with a MEGAPHONE from a far* Some jurisdictions sent in a K-9 unit, which is a highly trained German Shepherd dog!🐕 Or others sent in a robot!🤖

But, none of them, ever got close to the gunman when he was alive. It was after a sniper killed him from afar that they would all run in!

🎈💤 *The Mandela Effect* is a psychological phenomenon where the general public as a whole misremembers a specific fact or event.

Many Hollywood movies depict the hero busting into a room, giving all the bad guys a can of whip @$$ and saving everyone! Add to this, a heavy dose of video games, and the *DELUSIONS FLOURISH* in the minds of millions of Americans. 🎮

    🛑

    STOP! Really think about it!

When? When, before this day, did *BRAVE, HEROIC POLICE OFFICERS RESPOND SO QUICKLY and SO CLOSELY!

The Uvalde police officers were INCHES FROM THE GUNMAN, who was armed with A SEMI-AUTOMATIC ASSAULT RIFLE capable of PULVERIZING and BLASTING THROUGH CONCRETE! A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION!*

    💥

📌The truth of the matter is that this was an unprecedented event. Never in American history had we seen that!

Go back! Look for the video footage! There is none! Because, it never happened before!

    🚔

🇲🇽🇺🇸God Bless these BRAVE, HEROIC LATINO OFFICERS, they are the TRUE UNSUNG HEROS OF OUR TIME!

If these brave, young men do not receive awards or medals for their bravery, it is because the United States of America is still a very RACIST COUNTRY that doesn’t like brown people!
