    1. @omicron delta so a corporation will exploit ANOTHER corporation and lemmings who have had their SURNAME incorporated at birth will do NOTHING #$#+_

    1. let me guess. if the kids in congo started making 6 figure incomes you would complain that we should have these jobs in Canada.

    2. @Tim Neufeld It comes from wherever it is the cheapest , we always sucked the wealth out of poor country’s

  1. The last thing that electric vehicles are, is environmentally friendly. Whatever you do, don’t look behind the curtain to see what goes in to making one of these batteries.

    1. @NotLess Grossman yes eventually they can be but are you gonna pay for the storage Incase they one day become recyclable no they’re gonna get chucked out and cause environmental hazards

  2. How much in federal funds/provincial funds did they get.
Oh cares, like, um, ya know climate changes and stuff, like.

  3. It better have an amazing R&D department. Battery run vehicles are still way over priced and cannot cover the distance’s needed in large portions of North America. Not to mention, where will the raw materials come from?

    1. @The No Neck People Representative VW is making the batteries in Canada. The raw materials will come from Canada as well. We have everything required to build batteries in Canada

  4. I’m sure all the necessary research has been done, and it must check out, right? Like, how long do the batteries hold power enough to operate the vehicle, and what is the life expectancy of these batteries? Is the electrical infrastructure in most Canadian provinces able to handle the charging needed? Are these batteries able to handle Canadian winters, where we see temperatures quite regularly at -40C? And really, Volkswagen really isn’t taking much if any risk. I’m sure most of the money for the plant will be from sources other than their pocket.

    1. No, of course they haven’t thought of that because they lack your big brains, boundless expertise, and profound knowledge. Without you, all hope is lost

  5. You’re failing to say that Canada is paying them $15 billion to come here, a business that will fail.

  6. If everyone owned an EV, the amount of diesel required to power the heavy machinery to mine that amount of lithium, would be more than what would be required if everyone drove around in a diesel powered vehicle.

  7. Tesla is building a EV battery plant in Corpus Christi Texas.
    $375,000,000.
No where near the 4.9 billion price tag of the VW plant in Ontario.
Seems odd the price tag is so high for the VW project.
