The United States is formally accusing Russia of committing crimes against humanity in Ukraine as the country's brutal assault on its neighboring nation approaches its one-year mark, Vice President Kamala Harris announced Saturday.

“In the case of Russia’s actions in Ukraine, we have examined the evidence, we know the legal standards, and there is no doubt,” Harris said in an address at the Munich Security Conference. “These are crimes against humanity.”

The vice president named gruesome acts of torture and rape, “execution-style” killings and the forcible deportation of thousands from Ukraine, including children, as evidence of a “widespread and systemic attack against a civilian population.”

    1. Actually those were general war crimes. Crimes against humanity are a different class. In western legal systems intent is an inlmportant indicator. So you’d need to prove the US was trying to irradiated those groups of people. If you have that evidence though I would gladly walk back my comment, but I really don’t think anyone can. Not because they didn’t but because they covered their crimes well.

    1. She’s speaking at an International conference where the translators have begged the speakers to slow down, (that will ensure accurate translations to the non English speakers), because they have to translate on the fly. They’re not given prior access to the written speeches! If you think it’s easy to translate, you’ve never tried.

  1. She rehearsed that all night, like she actually cares. She’s more concerned about the way her hair looks and if she picked the right wallpaper in her office.

  2. America can only hope that both Harris and Biden won’t be allowed to come back breathing from Europe.
America might stand a chance if that happened.
