Murdaugh's wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22, were found fatally shot near dog kennels at the family's home on June 7, 2021. Murdaugh admitted in court that he lied to investigators when he told them he was not at the kennels before finding their bodies.

After the verdict was read, Judge Clifton Newman scheduled Murdaugh's sentencing at 9:30 a.m. Friday and thanked the jurors for their service. The minimum sentence for murder is 30 years in prison. The South Carolina Attorney General's Office is seeking life in prison without the possibility of parole.

    1. I believe both are guilty too, John Marvin moved the boat after the accident, he took Buster to LV, etc etc

    2. @PROUD GRANDMA I didn’t hear about that. I didn’t watch the whole Netflix if it was on that

    3. @PROUD GRANDMA I didn’t follow this too much from surgeries but the boat accident scene was tampered with

  1. Seems like he forgot to play his ‘sniffing act’ during sentencing, LOL. Off to jail with this despicable waste of flesh. Good luck keeping up the facade, Buster.

  2. Sad all the way around. That much power and money – that family could have done a lot of good, but instead they were ruined by their privilege.

    1. You’re so right. 😢 It’s the verdict I prayed for but still this is a sad ending all the way around. A father and husband murders two people he’s suppose to love more than anyone in the world. Wasted lives….”For the Love of Money!”

    2. @Russell and Deborah Richardson I hope Buster is able to create a stable safe satisfying life for himself and finds the professional help he should seek for himself. He seems to have stable loving relatives. I hope they are all able to give strength to each other. I would say Alex is not someone they should spend any time thinking about. He lives outside any reasonable or tolerable world. All so sad.

  3. Great job, jurors. I thought it would be a hung jury. It was all circumstantial evidence but there was SO much!

    1. When the juror was dismissed I had a feeling this would be the result knowing she thought he was innocent.

    2. @Princess Warrior That’s not why she was dismissed. It’s because she had discussions with someone she wasn’t supposed to.

    3. Of course that wasnt the reason. Im saying I had a feeling her desire to discuss with 3 ppl at work probably meant she felt alone and outnumbered in the jury room. 😉

    1. I think it’s the kind of family here certain things are not allowed to be spoken, even though everyone knows what’s really going on. Got to keep up appearances at all cost. Reminds me of the family who owned the inn on the show Bloodline.

  4. I watched this trial from the beginning, posing myself as a juror. My verdict, had I been in deliberations, would have been guilty on all counts. The timeline was just too close for him not to have been there at the shooting. Although I believe the verdict is justice, my heart aches for all the family. Even for Alex. How did he come to take such a path of destruction? He has wasted and thrown his life away. He threw away his family, friends, and colleagues. And for what? For his son, Buster, I wish I could take his pain away. All I can say is, the who thing is sad. So very, very sad. No joy do I relish in this outcome.

    1. @John Wick I do not forgive him, nor think he should get away with what he’s done. It surely isn’t up to me to forgive him of anything. He is guilty and should pay the penalty of LIFE. However, the whole happenings and situation is sad.

    2. @Thumper Si I do not feel sorry for any wrongdoing. However, those that that were hurt, killed, lied to, and stolen from… Those left to pick up and live with this mess I feel sorry for them.

  5. I cannot imagine the last seconds of Maggie’s life seeing her husband murder their son then point the gun towards her. Despicable.

    1. I’m soooo glad Maggie and Paul can now rest in peace, I feel relieved to know that Alex will not and can not get away with murder, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW, it doesn’t matter how much money you have , your client tell etc. I have been in tuned for weeks, and what have drawn me to watch this case is how BRUTAL Maggie and Paul was gunned down by a father and husband . I had to see it through !!!!! And as I looked on I saw it clear as day that He Alex was GUILTY… Ray Charles could see that and he’s blind!!!! The facts was clear, yes he tried it !!!! Try to manipulate the entire case and yes, that was to be expected because he was past tense!!!!! A prosecutor lawyer…plenty times while watching the case. I said, “ why he just dnt stand up and say “ I’m GUILTY”!!!!! Instead of dragging it out!!!! But he tried it!!! The worst part of watching this case, was when Alex took the stand … oh my goodness. That was the most entertaining, staged act out of the entire case, he never answered the question direct , he was mumbling, rambling etc looking real crazy and fake… no one in this world deserves to die the way Maggie and Paul left this earth…. But thank God for Justice True Justice being seen on today…, Guilty was the ONLY VERDICT!!!!
      Thank you Jesus
Maggie & Paul Rest in Peace you guys will always be remembered 🙏🏽❤️💙

    2. Me too I could only imagine and I do believe she was in Shock, scared , devastated. In disbelief oh God no one deserves that !!!!!! God is still giving out Guilty Verdicts as Justice have been served today For Maggie & Paul🙏🏽💙❤️

  6. I’m not surprised at all that he didn’t have a single emotion or act of remorse as he being told he is guilty. And just with his expression and look in his eyes u can see the evil in that man and know his heart is cold. Very creepy feeling just watching him have no care at all about what’s going on. Genuinely evil human being this man is. And got away with alot for far far too long

  7. Thank you to the jurors—I was worried. They saw through the lies & timeline doesn’t lie. A sincere mention to an awesome judge that had to deal with a lot through this. Justice prevailed !

  8. Thanks to the Jurors AND to The Prosecution! Justice for Paul and Maggie….the evil in this man is incomprehensible.. demonic…

  9. It’s a lot harder to sweep it under the rug with the whole world watching….No matter how influential and untouchable that you think you are. Thank you jurors! ❤

  10. Just seeing his expression on the first verdict, was to me like it was acceptance for him, his thoughts of “well I tried” looked like they flooded his mind all within about 6 seconds and then copped with his forever steal home

  11. Paul is responsible for the guilty verdict putting his dad at the crime scene. Well done Paul, well done. Rest In Peace.

  12. I think an unfortunate part of human nature is that a person’s perspective becomes askewed while in the middle of self created dysfunction. Alex believed behaviors could be ignored or excused bc that is the life that his family lead, he didn’t factor in that lying, betrayal, deceit is not the social baseline for most people especially his jurors

  13. This is so sad, how a desperate person, committed this gruesome act towards his family. Crime doesn’t pay. I was glued to the TV following this case. My heart goes out to Maggie’s sister and Murdaugh’s son. They are left behind with no sister, no brother, no mom, and dad in prison. The root of all evil is the love money and without a doubt Alex nailed his own coffin.
