Murdaugh, 54, is charged with murder in connection with the 2021 shootings of 52-year-old Maggie Murdaugh and 22-year-old Paul Murdaugh. He has pleaded not guilty. At the outset of his testimony, Murdaugh vehemently denied shooting Maggie and Paul on June 7, 2021, at the family's property in Colleton County. "I didn't shoot my wife or my son anytime, ever," he said under questioning by his defense team. "I would never intentionally do anything to hurt either one of them. Ever. Ever."

On Wednesday, defense attorney Jim Griffin asked Judge Clifton Newman if Murdaugh would be able to use his Fifth Amendment protection against incriminating himself in the nearly 100 other financial crimes he is accused of, including stealing from clients, money laundering, tax evasion and insurance fraud. Newman said prosecutors generally get wide latitude in cross examination. The South Carolina Attorney General's Office is seeking life in prison if Murdaugh is convicted.

  1. I just have a hard time believing someone who says their an expert and starts calling out every “clip”.
There are very few modern weapons that use a “clip”. In this case none of them do. They both have magazines. There is a big difference.

  2. He killed two people… where the bullets went was already discussed once.. This to me is a terrible sad excuse for the defense to steer the jury away and confuse them.

    1. Ok, I believe they said he was an attorney for 35 years. He knows how to get around cases. He perhaps bent his knees or squatted to shoot one of them, staging it as if there were two people .When a person shows you who they are, believe them… He’s very corrupt and a liar and has money backing him. Too much other evidence says he’s guilty.

  3. ….couldn’t take his wife’s car after getting emergency phone call
Because she needed it for the school run

  4. Paul had no defensive wounds because he was totally relaxed because he was at the kennels with his mother and father. The second expert says that Paul was probably taken unawares…that makes sense if Alex shot him! Who would ever think their own father would shoot them? Then next, Alex resumes his seat in golf cart and takes out Maggie.
Come on people…quit falling for these tall tales the Murdaughs and the lawyers are spinning! Trust the data, and Alex admitting he lied to the dispatcher, first responding officer and finally SLED.

  5. In my opinion, everything is so corrupt from law enforcement in general to government that this trial is like other high profile Money trials and he will walk bc he has money and friends in high places. Everything that’s discovered isn’t always entered into the trial case. So sad for all the wrongs to all the people.

    1. No, law enforcement Maybe corrupt that much is true.
However this man does not have any friends in high places as of this date or especially the date of the boating accident. My heart goes out to this whole family. If they had a problem with Alec Murdock they should have went after him. What they did to his wife and his son is deplorable and believe me somebody knows something and the bottom line is SLED is nothing but a corrupt organization.
They slaughtered this family. And they deserve to be shut down by the government.😭 This isn’t the first case did they have totally F*****- up.💯

  6. Just because he’s a lying, thieving lawyer, doesn’t make him a murderer, Like they say, when do you know a lawyer is lying,? His lips are moving, 😆 Yes, I believe this man has definitely fallen short of the glory of God…. absolutely 💯 But he genuinely cares for his family, and there’s no way he could have killed them in cold blood… The time of this incident should be looked at more thoroughly, tge one’s who have committed these murders could have been hired from one or more people people from the boat accident, they certainly weren’t poor, and of course you could tell on their interviews that they were feeling a vengeance…. Or another theory, that’s around the time when all the illegals were let into our country, and they were traveling through all them south east states 🤔 just a pondering idea 💡

  7. Alex lied numerous times, the big one was he wasnt there the time of the murders.I question the most where is the weapon, where are the clothes he had on,when did he change those clothes, was it after the murders.Because i can shower in less then ten minutes and im sure a lot of males can.Maybe he didnt murder them but he sure as hell was there when it happened.Who else was with him when it happened if he didnt do it alone? There are a lot of questions the prosecutors didnt ask most of us would have.I made up my mind but it only takes one juror to set him free.

  8. He’s crying because he a forced to sit and hear the horrid details. He feels shame. Shame is from our childhood and he always wante do to appear in control, and now he s trapped

  9. Don’t they know the witnesses for the defense are actors? AND also, we all know AM is a hunter..and when wounding an animal he would close in for the kill ..that is what he did to Maggie and Paul. Horrible…he could shoot from any angle once he wounded them ..

  10. Such sadness in this family….evil ran rampant within this household. SO MUCH DAMAGE done and allowed within the walls of the Murdaugh family. NOW only one member, that being the eldest son, survives to “restore” the name of the many generations of Murdaughs that were of good honest people. HOW SAD INDEED FOR A LOST FAMILY….😥

  11. How incompetent of the detectives and crime scene investigators to have left the scene the way they did. Someone needs to be held accountable and reprimanded! The only one who acted professionally was the first policeman who went there and secured Alex gun and telling people what he saw

  12. The investigators from SLED or sheriffs office didn’t even think of trying family’s phone to find Maggie’s phone? What a bunch of hicks!
