Vote safely & skip USPS – This election isn’t about supporting a political party or even a political candidate. It’s about saving our representative democracy: the right to vote, have that vote counted and a peaceful transition of power for starters. What is happening right now is an attempt to turn our country into an Authoritarian Autocracy run by dictator Trump where there is no representation or accountability to the people by the powerful. Trump is breaking any law or norm he wants to accumulate and hold on to as much power and wealth for himself as possible. He is incapable of considering or caring about anyone else beyond their utility and loyalty to him. Trump’s rise, governing and crimes are like those of Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pinochet, Erdoğan, Putin, etc. Our choice this election is perfectly clear. We can either defend every person’s constitutional rights including the freedoms of speech, assembly, press, religion and petition, etc. or we can lose them to the tyranny of powerful elites. Dr. Ben Franklin after the Constitutional Convention in 1778 is believed to have been asked, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.” We do not need a time machine to know what Dr. Franklin would want us to do in order to keep our democratic republic. (P.S. Congrats Willie Geist on your half marathon.)

  3. Go Willie go!

  4. Nice. File this under something t’rump would never do. No, not run a half marathon, but help someone other than himself.

  5. Willie,
Among all the years I watched and listen to your Father started with him being the poet laureate at my fraternity dining room (in Champaign- Urbana) with my personal favorite “my dog shep”,
I send my love and prayers to your Dad and you and your family!
We’ll help with the Michael J Fox foundation. Perge’.

  6. Stupid me, I didn’t know who Willie’s dad was. Now I do.

  7. YO Willie – GOOD…ON…YOU…MATE!

  8. Good stuff Willie. I met one of the partner docs at NSUH while looking into a nerve problem I have, and it was clear he was passionate about working with the foundation. Hopefully you’ll get better weather next year.

Lindsey had to beg money from his boy Laura Ingraham. What happened to “pull yourself up”?

    • I bet one of us libs stole his bootstraps, once they’re replaced he’ll be off and running. Oops, I guess he’ll be tromping, boots aren’t good for running.
