18 months into Taliban’s rule, Afghans are facing dire poverty every single day

Countless young children are dying in Afghanistan as freezing temperatures and extreme poverty grips the country. 18 months into Taliban rule, the UN claims two-thirds of the population of 40 million people will require humanitarian assistance this year just to survive. CNN's Anna Coren reports.

  1. I am unemployed political scientist.

“We do not need Americans, Germans or other foreigners. We want Talibs and Islam.”

You say it, you have it.

    1. You speak thru! Respect from 🇷🇴 România,we die in 1989 in revolutions for our kids see Europe.

  2. What’s funny is , he has no money to buy wood to save his child….
BUT HES GOT THE LATEST CELL PHONE WITH INTERNET CONNECTION…

    1. They bought it when before the taliban dude, in 18 months all their money is gone, wrap your head around reality

    2. @W A did you take alook at thier dwelling or clothes for that matter….
How much better do you REALLY think it was 18 months ago?

    3. @Nemo No-won you can get a used unlocked Samsung for like $30 in Afghanistan and data card is like $5 per 10 GB, wtf you even know bro?

  3. All tyrants that gain power over a country live in luxury compared to most of the people; it’s about narcissism and greed. Loving GOD is not about behaving your way into it, look at priests. It’s about what’s in your heart and there can be no love in the heart to allow people to suffer because they don’t behave in expected ways. God does not force its will on us, why do humans feel they have that right.

  4. Ukrainian people are ready to fight against Russia. But, the Afghanistan people are not ready to fight against Taliban. The Afghanistan leader escaped from Afghanistan when he saw Taliban coming. But, the Ukraine leader did not run away when he saw Russia coming. When USA left Afghanistan, there were 300,000 armed Afghanistan soldiers. All 300,000 of them refused to fight against 60,000 Taliban fighters and surrendered without a fight. But, 200,000 Ukrainian soldiers chased away 200,000 Russian soldiers. The will of the people to fight against the enemy is that made the difference.

    1. Honestly America probably just should have just stayed out of it from the very beginning and let the Soviets take over Afghanistan. It would probably be more civilized by now.

    2. “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” Matthew 5:38-39

“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:5-6

    3. @Nitish Pandey many of them aren’t. Local police always found foreign passports from nearby gulf countries and other Islamic countries for these “domestic” fighters

    1. People have to be motivated behind a unifying national vision, not a tribal feudalist existence. This is on afghans. We helped them for 20 years and they collapsed in days. Ukraine only received minimal help for 8 years and they stood against a world power until we got them more aid

    2. The taliban were in control , it is not anyones fault but the afgan mens failure to fight the talicrap

  5. It’s a horrible situation. And unfortunately we tried to change what was happening there, and failed. But also, the afghans failed themselves too. They thought the west would stay and protect them forever, and when we left, they just bent over for the taliban.

    1. You have to want it. You can’t force it. They chose this.

We didn’t fail. They failed themselves

    2. Goodness, Joe really stuck it those children! But I like to blame his voters because they knew that this is the essence of Biden.

  6. When the US left they didn’t even try to fight for their country they just gave it to the Taliban so I kinda don’t feel sorry for them

  7. If Afghans had had the kind of courage that Ukrainians display all the time, instead of being abject cowards, then the Taliban wouldn’t be in control!

    1. @DSM0305 Another dumb statement that makes no sense, and has nothing to do with the war in Afghanistan and what I said in my previous comment.

    2. Yeah because Ukraine has a chance to win this war 😂 Imagine if Ukraine didnt have 120 billion from the US to help defend it. How well would they be doing then. You make fun of people for grammer, yet you are trying to compare a country with vast military aid to one that had none.

  8. So sad to hear that young girl say I’m a child, I’m not ready to be married. I couldn’t imagine having daughters and going through this. These types of countries need to do better , I just don’t get why it’s still this bad. In America we had horrible ways and created laws to end some of the evil we had going on I can’t imagine these countries can’t come to common ground and make their countries better. So sad. Why would you want your women in fear like this and your men to be like this ? My God 😢🙏🏾🙏🏽🙏🏻.

    1. Help your neighbors. Show responsibility for the Ummah brother. Inshallah!
For clerification – this comment is not ironic. I just take care that people don’t use Allah’s name in vain.

  9. we have people living on the streets in skid row la & homeless people all over our nation they should come first before helping others over seas

  10. I don’t want to see any girls forced to wed… or grown women either! But what exactly can we do? We spent years, billions and many lives trying to help Afghanistan escape the Taliban. Didn’t work! I have a son who was deployed there in 2013 – and has lifelong injuries to show for it.
Now the Taliban is doing all it can to prevent outside help. My fear is that any $$ someone like me, or the US, sends to help poor Afghans will end up funding the Taliban regime.

    1. No man. They had our help and then you elected the worst president in living memory. You did this to them.

  11. The Taliban have a great track record of enforcing their religion on everyone around them, but it appears they are incapable of actually governing a large nation and supplying help (not more problems) to the people in their need.
But what an absolute sham any and all theocracies are (and some nutbars in congress want it for the US)
and what a human tragedy this surely will turn out to be…
I don’t have words for what I and a great many other in the world think of the Taliban.
Every single theocracy in the world is at odds with, and an enemy of, certain segments of their respective populations – in the case of the Taliban, it’s roughly 50%

  12. Poverty is their normal life and has been forever. We can’t help them because they don’t want us to.
