  1. going forward….is an understanding just how organized religion must never be forced upon any person…..

    1. Ask yourself why the Catholic Church is being focused on and not the politicians who promoted, implemented, and administered the residential school policy. Without them as the architects, none of it would have happened.

    2. @Primmakin Sofis the answer to your question is that the Canadian government has already apologized and paid reparations for the residential schools, the Catholic Church hasn’t and is still holding back records.

    3. @Kayne Reles But did it investigate possible crimes in regards to the administering of the policy? Did it prosecute if warranted?

Were the architects of the policy punished in any way for it?

“Sorry, we goofed, here’s some money.”

This whole thing starts with the politicians.

    4. @Primmakin Sofis exactly this. It was the politicians who set up the policy and gave authority to the RCMP to take children from their homes. Even if the children had been treated well, the policy was still wrong. There were reports dating back to the 1920s that children were being mistreated and there were high death rates from overcrowding and the government only built more schools.

It was the federal government that built the schools and then failed to guarantee quality of care to these children. As for the churches this was the same thing that happened in orphanages and workhouses for children in the UK and across Canada. There are no surprises here. Kids don’t vote so they have never mattered to politicians.

    5. @Kayne Reles actually current parishioners are paying for reparations. This is why churches and other property are being sold. An apology from the government is hardly enough when it’s paired with “we weren’t the ones that abused the children. The churches need to apologize”

  2. β€œGoing forward…” Who says anyone needs a church at all, going forward?

  3. I find it curious why there is little mention of the politicians responsible for promoting, implementing, and administering the residential school policy. Shouldn’t they be the primary focus given they are the architects of the whole thing?

    1. @GapYear The Canadian Government has already made a formal apology and paid reparations for the residential schools. The Catholic Church hasn’t and is still holding back records.

  4. Thanks Cardinal. We can turn the other cheek but Mr Trudeau, thy shall not bear false witness

  5. Since they knew abt the past of apologies been made doesn’t truly unsettle what has been found when they thought that we have to move on πŸ’” we are in shock and angry cause we been neglected all along.
We have been given run around every friggen time like now 😑
It truly hurts πŸ’” it honestly does πŸ’”
It’s physiological now 😒 we will never forget this πŸ‘Š and neither will you.

  6. Church shouldn’t have a role in school…church and state separation was what are government requires, if we accept ALL RELIGIONS…this would cause division…yet here we are…im sue the PM will have no choice but to bow to you

  7. Psalm 24
    King James Version
24 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

  8. Matthew 7:15
    King James Version
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

  9. Maybe Trudeau can explain his fathers role in the Residential Schools and why he never did anything about them whem he was PM even though abuses were well known? …..Justin? Hello?

  10. The queen and her mankind LGBTQ is slowly passing away the New World Order of the King has begun

  11. They became involved with the British system of government here, that , endorsed the creation of these schools.

  12. the PM likes to divert his own guilt onto some other institution the governments own policy was the way of colonialism and the government has mot even done anything about the TRC or the missing indigenous women and the PM needs to stop his divisive ways and if he is a catholic he himself as a catholic can apologize as a catholic member
