Marigot and Salisbury seats Declared Vacant

Roseau, Dominica– May 21, 2010……… Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Alix Boyd Knights has announced that the Marigot and Salisbury seats are now vacant.

Hon. Alix Boyd Knights explained that the seats had been vacated because Mr. Edison James and Mr. Hector John, formerly the Members for the Marigot and Salisbury constituencies did not comply with the rules of the House, specifically Standing Order 15.

The Speaker acted according to law says Dominica’s Attorney General

Francine Baron Royer has stated that contrary to opinions being expressed in the public domain, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Alix Boyd Knights did act in accordance with the Dominica Constitution and the Standing Orders of the House of Assembly when she announced that the Marigot and Salisbury seats had become vacant.

The Dominican Diaspora has been stuck in a ‘vogue continuum’ and continues to employ a ‘transient’ status of meaningless relevance with regard to Dominica and its Governing body of the day! The sooner Governments (around the Caribbean), and Dominica in particular, understand the importance and potential of this valuable and untapped resource, the sooner they will mature and flourish in representation of the economic advancement they “so” desire.

CARICOM seeking to broaden relationships in response to Global challenges says Trade Minister

cofcor_press_conference.jpgRoseau, Dominica– May 11, 2010……… Chairman of the 13th Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), Dominica’s Trade Minister, Hon. Dr. John Colin McIntyre has indicated that the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is seeking to broaden its relationships with Third Countries and Groups of Countries in response to the new challenges in the international global community.

Dr. McIntyre made the statement at a press conference following the conclusion of the 13th meeting of the COFCOR which was held in Dominica for the first time from May 5-6, 2010.

Hundreds witness official opening of most modern primary school in Dominica
