At least Nixon had the decency to resign.
Nixon resigned because of overwhelming pressure from his own party. Back then although they still had horrible corporate and war loving policies at least some members of the GOP had an understanding of the constitution and the rule of law. If Nixon had the craven cowards of today’s GOP, he would have been a million times worse, especially because he was actually a fairly smart guy when it came to politics, not just a good con man like Trump.
