Christianity Today Editorial Calls For Trump’s Removal From Office | The Last Word | MSNBC

  1. When Evangelicals stopped asking W.W.J.D. & instead started asking W.W.D.T.D., any sort of moral authority they may have had was destroyed.

    1. @Alex Hamilton Are you saying that morality is a matter of “perspective”? So….Hitler’s immorality is just a matter of “perspective”? After all, “who is the judge on who has moral authority?”…..right?

    2. @88Gibson LesPaul well said.
It is very dangerous when we angle “general morale” after our own dellusional morale compasses.
That is a straight way down the hole towards general lack of human values and human empathy.

    3. @Julian Sanchez Harris Julian, you and I are watching Putin’s dream come true, ie., the relativization of Truth and Morals. The glue that holds America together has been a shared sense of Reality and a shared sense of Right and Wrong. If you have “your Truth” and I have “my Truth” then you have the very essence of social disintegration.

    4. @88Gibson LesPaul Worst part is, through Trump in America and Farange in UK it has spread across the whole western world…
I will not lie. I am scared for what the future holds for us.

    1. @Ted Freddy That may be true, so what about Hilary. You do realize this is 2019 and nobody hears from her anymore. “stupid” that would any body who supports traitor Trump, which I don’t!

    1. @tihzho So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean!

Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root[b] of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.

    2. @Archangel Uriel Huh? Well that’s nice but it still doesn’t change the fact that Christians are meant to obey The Law of Moses. 🙂

    3. @tihzho As it is written: “There is not a just person, not even one,”
Because all of them have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God,
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed–a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
We determine therefore that by faith a man is made righteous and not by the works of The Written Law.
Is he The God of the Jews only? Is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also.
Because God is One, who declares the circumcision righteous by faith and also the uncircumcision by faith.
Are we eliminating The Written Law by faith? God forbid, but we are establishing The Written Law.

    4. @tihzho And put on all the armor of God, so that you can stand against the strategies of The Devil.
Because your fight has not been with flesh and blood, but with Principalities and The Rulers and The Powers of this dark world and with wicked spirits which are under Heaven.
Because of this, put on all the armor of God that you shall be able to confront The Evil One, and when you are ready in all things, you shall stand.
Stand therefore and gird your waist with the truth and put on the breastplate of righteousness,
And shoe your feet with the readiness of The Gospel of peace,
And with these, take to you the shield of faith, that with it you may have the power to quench all of the blazing bolts of The Evil One.
Put on the helmet of salvation and grasp the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray with all prayers and with all desires always in The Spirit and be watching with him in prayer every moment as you pray constantly and make supplication for the sake of all The Holy Ones,
Also for me, that the word may be given to me by opening my mouth, that publicly I may preach the mystery of The Gospel,
That of which I am an Ambassador in chains, that I may speak it with boldness as it is necessary for me to speak it.

    5. @Archangel Uriel Sorry, that was written by Paul of Tarsus who never met Jesus, and is not the words of Jesus. So what Jesus said clearly the Book of Moses must be obeyed to the letter of the law.

  2. “Presidents and generals and all the important people in position to make the most important decisions are, by and large, the least equipped for making them.” — MICHAEL CRICHTON The Andromeda Evolution.

  3. No word from Pat Robertson about that “defense” of Trump being compared to Jesus. The “evangelicals” are the ones that propped Trump and GOP up to believe he’s their “lord” to them.

  4. I have read mostly in comments, people saying that Evangelicals are all a bunch of hypocritical haters, who ignore Trump’s “sinfulness”, ranging from womanizing to sexual assault, multiple marriages, branching out to his dirty dealing in development and running casinos, basically stealing from own father, etc. I am inclined to believe Trump has committed those sins. But I have tried to remind my anti-Trump compadres that certainly not every evangelical in the country advocates for Trump politically. is likely to vote for him, etc. I personally know and have befriended evangelicals, one being my sister in law who is basically apolitical and certainly would never vote for Trump, precisely because he’s a repeat adulterer, has many credible allegations of sexual assault, etc., i.e., all the aforementioned wrongs, which Christians and some other religions call “sins”. She is the first to preach judge not, yest ye be, etc., but would add that there are limits, and any way, having one’s vote determined by one’s appraisal of the candidate’s moral character is a duty we all are responsible for. That doesn’t require the voter to grasp pearls or cluck cluck, to excoriate publicly the sinfulness of a candidate, but it does require moral evaluation, moral judgement. A couple who were friends before we relocated in the SF Bay Area (yes, they have evangelicals even in N. Cally) definitely took the responsibility to cast their votes seriously. They could be described as fiscally conservative, but socially liberal, with limits. They were big on Jimmy Carter, even expressing affinity for his “I have sinned in my mind” confessional. For the same reasons, they did vote for Clinton t2. Like Carter they were strongly involved in the habitat movement, and introduced our oldest son to it, we being Episcopalian.
These are 3 clearly, unequivocally Evangelica Christians whom I have known as friends and family. Whenever I’m in the area, I usually attend services with my sister in law, and I am always warmly greeted. They tease me about “getting off” on their “inspired” form of worship, some involving speaking in tongues, being taken over by the Holy Spirit, and I must admit, it is a sight to behold. Never have I been caught up in any discussion about political personalities. Just to say it again, not all Evangelicals are Trumpites.

    1. @Little Bub Not sure where you got that %age, but I’m going to run with it. Thanks. Any clue as to what %age of klansmen or white supremacists support Trump? Hee hee heeeeeeee

  5. Ah yes, Christianity Today speaks – what a crock. Why are so many religious people judgmental when I thought that was “god’s” job? It seems to me that many “Christians” shouldn’t be throwing stones.

    1. That’s about the size of it. Evangelicals want those babies to be born but after that, they’ll not lift a finger to care for the child or the mother.

  6. One thing we know for certain, the republichristians and trump hate and fear the truth. Another thing I know for certain, the only comparison between trump and Christ is….they are polar opposites.

    1. @Archangel Uriel Sure, that’s right! All things will be known…..but YOU already know them all….don’t you!
      Classic MAGAism!

    2. @88Gibson LesPaul all things will be known because of the law of conservation. Same goes for raising people from the dead. No energy is deatroyed. It only changes form. Find the new form and retreive it. Your very words are recorder within the universe forever to be retreived at a later date.

  7. The evangelicals should stay out of politics, after all they are not playing with a full deck of cards to begin with.

  8. WELL it’s about time, Pence is no better, …..I have never understood this in America , it’s so hypercritical, cult like, I think being a humanist , believing in people, being kind and thoughtful to others.

  9. Republican Party shamed our Christian values… Glad to see there’s finally push back from a major magazine!

    1. @Ted Freddy Not true- no one is killing children at birth- this is murder. Learn a few facts please. Late term abortions are done for the health of the mother or if the child is not viable and are one in about 2% of abortions.

    2. @voodooblue61 blue Sure, in your perverted world maybe. But in Gods eye destroying a fetus at conception is murder, not in humans eyes. The lake of fire is waiting for you pal. How many abortions have there been since roe v wade, answer too many and most are done on the Blacks. This could just be a legal form of racism by the White Man. Hmm never thought of that.

    3. I read the Bible and not someones opinion on how to be a good christian in a publication that was once meaningful. I admire Billy Graham but he probably would not approve of it getting into the mud about impeaching a President in such a Partisan fashion.

    4. @Ted Freddy Well when YOU get pregnant then don’t have an abortion- until then take your fake outrage and SHUT UP!

  10. Morals? The Evangelicans? No way they are fake Christians. They call themselves Christians but are doing exactly what Christ condemned. They don’t pray to God but to Satan!👿💰👆

  11. modern Christianity stopped being about the life and message of Christ, who embraced the marginal and healed the sick, a long time ago. Now it’s about being rich (LOL Christ famously a fan of the moneychangers as I recall) about making sure you don’t have to bake cakes for lesbians (based on OT homophobia, the half of the bible not even written about Christ,) and making sure health insurance doesn’t cover birth control for women. Like…the bronze age knew to put rocks up their camels to keep em from being pregnant. That was the Christ Era’s level of medical understanding. Greed, prejudice and ignorance. Modern Christianity, folks! Daily less and less relevant to modern life.
