Did democrats only loose a majority of house seats in the south in 1994? Yes. The reason being is that the southern constituents were still racist and against civil rights. The only reason democrats won there is because at that time the southern democrats focused on the economy, during an administration (Bill Clinton’s) that had a screaming economy. People around the country saw the president and the party in charge, and then took a look at the economy, and saw that democrats do better with economics than republicans.
Now though, because the Democratic Party has become so far left, they can’t win seats in the south because it is now a party focused on social issues (racism, healthcare, etc. ) and not the economy.
