We as a nation have lost our ability to think rationally, I believe and have to stop this incessant sniping at each other.
I am a member of the Black community and Joe Biden is quite correct. We are diverse in the sense that we have varied educational levels and incomes, but we have a shared history. Black Americans who are from the Islands or Somalia or other countries in Africa tend to form their own communities and often cannot relate to the African American experience which had its origins in slavery. Our perspectives are shaped by our historic ties to that institution.
Latinix, on the other hand do not have a shared experience that informs them as a whole. They have come to this country of their own volition from many diverse countries. They are from Cuba and South America, from Mexico and Puerto Rico among other places and generally a politician has to think of these groups independent of each other. Cuban Americans in Florida have a different political wish list than Hispanic Americans in Arizona or Texas.
