‘Equivalent to taking a hostage’: Trevor Reed on Russia detaining American journalist

Trevor Reed, an American citizen freed in 2022 after two years of imprisonment in Russia, said he'd like to see the Biden administration take "definite action" in freeing Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who was recently detained by Russian authorities. 1. Reed drank so much alcohol he went crazy, and the police arrested him. He tried to grab the steering wheel of the police car causing a traffic accident. I don’t see him as a good example of a person who was a political prisoner. Did he deserve 9 years for that no anyone would say that is excessive punishment. What happened to him could have happened anyone in a foreign country and it does happen to lot of Americans who the media doesn’t ever talk about. Why Americans are still in Russia is shocking to me anyone who goes there at this point should just expect this to happen.

    1. @Timmy Maybe tased but the difference would be the court here would have probably gave him probation.

  2. Again, why would anyone be in a country run by inhumane authoritarians? How many hostages does it take for people to learn this lesson?

Make your decisions alone, live them alone!

  3. And there’s no need to be surprised or upset these people don’t like us that you leave this country and go poke around on their country and think you’re going to be okay ….come on now

  5. Ok so like Griner didn’t teach every American that Russia is ready to use you if you have any amount of possible political value. Don’t know if I care about this at all. Actually I don’t. His own fault for going there with credentials being naive to the very large possibility he might get used in a much larger way

  6. If viktors brother wasn’t dead he’d probably be released for this guy. So most likely he’ll be released for a more alive POS

  7. What does the US do when it finds a Russian spy in wartime 🤔? We are definitely living in the strangest of times.

  8. May they set him free and let’s hope Americans in Russia respect the government here and leave Russia immediately. I’ve been saying since the pandemic every American get out of other countries because the times are at hand and it will get dangerous. They ignored as those many people who ignored Noah

  9. Glory to Russia and Iran 🇷🇺🇮🇷
Allah bless president Putin ️ very useful information
