Ursula von der Leyen, the first female president of the European Commission, said she felt "hurt" and "alone" after being left without a chair by two male leaders at a summit in Turkey earlier this month. CNN's Zain Asher speaks with Christiane Amanpour about the incident and von der Leyen's response.

    1. @boomer166 There’s a procedure when diplomats visit another country, this called protocol, and the seating arrangements were made in line with the EU suggestion. Period. The demands and suggestions of the EU side were met and the proper protocol applied during the meeting. This is actually something we should blame to EU. This is nothing to do with her being Women.

    2. @Censored User hey stupid, there should have been enough chairs for everyone. Are you a rocket scientist with that brain?

    1. I guess this fake news shows CNN’s heart.

They are trying to make Turkey look bad. They agree to seating before hand.

    2. @Funk Daddy I think it’s more that the leader of the EU wants to make herself look like a victim. And CNN loves women being made out to be victims, no matter how powerful and privileged those women might be.

Turkey does enough on its own to make itself look bad and CNN doesn’t usually cover that.

    3. Actually, both matter. E.g. You can offer someone something, but after or during a bout of verbal abuse, that thing/food/service is just poison. Plus, your thoughts and words drive your deeds. They inject vibes of love or hate etc. into the deeds, and those vibes get felt to ill or good or great effect.

  1. Reminds me of the historical story “Killing Three Warriors with Two Peaches”(Google it!). Thr only difference is that the perpetrator is among the three.

    1. @Make gulags Great againHe already answered your question: EU protocol team did this set up… dmbss libs

    2. She’s not the boss, they’re kind of equal but he simply didn’t realize the situation at first. Either way, he should have given up the sit exactly to spite Erdogan. Anyway, it was done on purpose by Turkey, previous meetings with 3 heads of state proves that. It’s stupid, they’ll only lose by attacking the head of EU.

    3. @Bob D go take your Metamucil pops. Getting cranky. And it still didn’t really answer the question. Why was the EU protocols this way?

    4. @Make gulags Great again The EU protocol team consisted of Charles Michel people because von Leyen did not bring hers due to covid. If they were there, they might have asked for a different arrangement. If you watch the full video elsewhere, Charles Michel apologized for having it this way. That aside, it is sad for CNN to use this for anti Turkish propaganda for their own agenda.

  2. They left her in their dust as they walked ,sat before her, not simultaneously as in usual diplomacy, and watched her reaction from afar. She was put aside away from the inclusive “circle”. You could feel them smirking inside. Very disrespectful and backwards. I would have walked out and seen how they liked that move.

  3. I’m confused, 2 guys say in chairs. 1 guy sat in a couch and she sat in a couch across from the guy in the couch.
In short 2 ppl in chairs, 2 ppl in couch. What’s the issue???
