Ezra Klein On Biden vs. Sanders’s Political Revolution | The Last Word | MSNBC 1

Ezra Klein tells Lawrence O'Donnell, "Joe Biden wants to lead the Democratic Party as it exists right now." And that, Klein says, is Biden's advantage. "If Bernie Sanders wants to become the leader of the Democratic Party he's got to actually try harder to lead the Democratic Party, not just take it over." Aired on 3/4/2020.

  1. No take over? So in other words, Bernie Sanders cannot do to the Democratic Party what Donny did to the Repubican Party

There are many points into WHY that is, but you are correct…the populist rhetoric, that fuels irrational zealots…THAT formula is not a winning one with Democrats.

    • Biggest difference between Trump & Bernie: Trumps party takeover appealed to the Republican base of white, male, high school educated voters and that’s why it worked. The democratic base is black, southern, moderates and Bernie has again failed to get them to support him in large numbers. That in the end is why Trump succeeded where Bernie is failing.

@lunga3000 And even then, it’s bigger than that – another reason is that they’re lied to, the establishment is backing Biden, it’s painfully obvious

    • Trump became registered Republican. Bernie Sanders is not registered Democrat. If he wants to take over the party or even lead it he first must become a member of that party.

The DNC are afraid of losing the money, they are paid by a lot of the same people that fund the GOP

  3. Joe Biden is just another Hillary Clinton and Trump will walk all over him. All Trump can say about Bernie is that he’s a communist.

    EZRA KLEIN !! Great man! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 Brilliant as always.

@Aaron – He definitely held his own against Sam Harris, and I’m a Harris fan (I’m a sub to his podcast, bought many of his books. He’s very awesome too).

    • His representation of “leading the party” is running on the same ideas as Hilary back in 2016 who lost to a Buffoon who can’t speak in complete sentences. Yeah he’s so brilliant!!!

    • Zeno of Citium but I guess having a moron who doesn’t know what he’s running for debate another moron who thinks windmills cause cancer is most definitely worth watching.

@1Biswet – [Insert any Dem candidate] > Trump. IT’s not about how perfect our candidate is…how imperfect Trump is.

    • Zeno of Citium I definitely agree with you on that, but are we really gonna end up choosing the lesser of two evils again??

  5. Why was epsteins testimony this 2020 election year?

  6. he’s trying to get the power in the democratic party back in the hands of the people. a takeover is necessary, the way big money did a takeover before.

  7. Ok, no need to interview him again.

The Biden bump will fade. The way the establishment have tried to prop up his nearly dead campaign reminds me of how the establishment unveiled Palin as McCain’s running mate 12 years ago. Initially the media and the public rolled out the red carpet, but they were quickly over her. The same will happen with Creepy Joe.

  9. He’s right or Bernie will get left in the dust. Make a choice become the people voting, calling what you want, establishment, conservative Democrats etc are looking for someone who they can trust after 3+ years of somebody lying and tearing the country apart.

    • Teo De Lucca | March 5, 2020 at 6:13 AM | Reply

Sld you say that as if Biden doesn’t have a proven track record of doing that exact thing you’re demonising

    • Trust someone who voted to take us to war. Was an architect for the patriot act. Tried to defund social security. Hasn’t done anything or even proposed anything at all about healthcare reform. Hasn’t made any mention of creating new jobs through infrastructure projects.
Whose last administration deported more people than any other in history and put kids in cages before Trump did. That increased drone warfare and extrajudicial killings. That bailed out the banks that collapsed the economy. That expanded domestic spying on Americans more than any other administration in history?

How does anyone in their right mind trust Biden?

  10. The DNC has become a textbook corporation itself, and it NEEDS to be taken over by someone like Bernie Sanders.

  11. DNC has chosen , trump .

  12. Ennie Name Willdo | March 5, 2020 at 3:09 AM | Reply

If the Democratic Party fails to become more progressive and address the needs of working class Americans, then they won’t have my vote

    • Lotta Sunshine | March 5, 2020 at 3:18 AM | Reply

So you’d rather Trump win instead?

    • I don’t want 4 more years of Trump, but if Biden’s the nominee I’m done with the DNC.
All that stuff about healthcare reform was a straight up lie.
The DNC don’t care about their voter base or the people. This election cycle has made it evident they’re corrupt scum and their only notable quality is that they’re less racist than the Republicans

The only candidate actually advocating for universal healthcare is Bernie, and it’s not even on Biden’s list.

isn’t it always the case, ‘Willdo’: “This channel doesn’t have any content.” FOAD

  13. We are in the midst of a GLOBAL POPULIST wave. We already got a fake right wing one. What on EARTH makes all of you so certain that a GENUINE populist like Bernie is a losing ticket? In THESE times , he looks like the only winning one. Wake up!

So, Bernie Sanders has to kowtow to establishment types to get their approval…who all have donors and special interests that are oppositional to key parts of his platform and the best interest of the American people that those policies represents? How is that supposed to work?
Bernie is the moderate one here. He is the one who would do the most to end unnecessary war. Would do the most to enable Americans to improve everyday working conditions and pay. Improve the health and security of everyone at a seriously small cost of literal money hoarders that evade taxes and engage in illegal practices often to grow wealth.
The Party pulled politics and coalesced around a candidate to create momentum from people that don’t really know or care about policy for different reasons. Media blasted and supported it with little prodding. I hope people are paying more attention now and Bernie can vocalize the platform better and his record in opposition to Biden. I wish we had a debate with the two sooner.

  15. WHAT, exactly, is BIDEN running on? Anyone?

  16. Trump took over the RNC…..Bernie can do the same with the DNC.

  17. Ezra Klein is a spokes person for anti-white racism and a bad person in general. His kind of regressive authoritarianism is what pushed people to tRump.

  18. Come on people…SANDERS can save us all. BIDEN has dementia. My god…He is so forgetful. He lives in the 1950’s. AND HE has a bad track records minus Obama. Why Obama chose him is beyond me.

  19. Ralpheal Coty | March 5, 2020 at 7:43 PM | Reply

A political revolution is absolutely necessary! The establishment has ignored the American people for far too long.

  20. If Bernie Sanders wants to become the leader of the Democrat party he needs to register as a Democrat. Bernie Sanders is not a registered Democrat you goofus!
