There are many points into WHY that is, but you are correct…the populist rhetoric, that fuels irrational zealots…THAT formula is not a winning one with Democrats.
Biggest difference between Trump & Bernie: Trumps party takeover appealed to the Republican base of white, male, high school educated voters and that’s why it worked. The democratic base is black, southern, moderates and Bernie has again failed to get them to support him in large numbers. That in the end is why Trump succeeded where Bernie is failing.

Trump became registered Republican. Bernie Sanders is not registered Democrat. If he wants to take over the party or even lead it he first must become a member of that party.

The Biden bump will fade. The way the establishment have tried to prop up his nearly dead campaign reminds me of how the establishment unveiled Palin as McCain’s running mate 12 years ago. Initially the media and the public rolled out the red carpet, but they were quickly over her. The same will happen with Creepy Joe.
He’s right or Bernie will get left in the dust. Make a choice become the people voting, calling what you want, establishment, conservative Democrats etc are looking for someone who they can trust after 3+ years of somebody lying and tearing the country apart.

Trust someone who voted to take us to war. Was an architect for the patriot act. Tried to defund social security. Hasn’t done anything or even proposed anything at all about healthcare reform. Hasn’t made any mention of creating new jobs through infrastructure projects.
Whose last administration deported more people than any other in history and put kids in cages before Trump did. That increased drone warfare and extrajudicial killings. That bailed out the banks that collapsed the economy. That expanded domestic spying on Americans more than any other administration in history?
How does anyone in their right mind trust Biden?

So, Bernie Sanders has to kowtow to establishment types to get their approval…who all have donors and special interests that are oppositional to key parts of his platform and the best interest of the American people that those policies represents? How is that supposed to work?
Bernie is the moderate one here. He is the one who would do the most to end unnecessary war. Would do the most to enable Americans to improve everyday working conditions and pay. Improve the health and security of everyone at a seriously small cost of literal money hoarders that evade taxes and engage in illegal practices often to grow wealth.
The Party pulled politics and coalesced around a candidate to create momentum from people that don’t really know or care about policy for different reasons. Media blasted and supported it with little prodding. I hope people are paying more attention now and Bernie can vocalize the platform better and his record in opposition to Biden. I wish we had a debate with the two sooner.
