Why would you think there are high spikes just because you seen it on the news? There is no threat and its all a scare tactic to keep you in fear so you get the faucci ouchie. Its amazing how many people fall for this fear mongering… NEVER do anything out of fear, think.
oh you mean like Australia has been doing all pandemic & why life has been effectively normal? Sydney/NSW is currently acting like Florida, failing to control covid, so all borders to other states are closed & no-one’s allowed out of NSW without spending 14 days in government run quarantine. Same happened in Melbourne last year, so that the rest of the country could continue life as normal & before anyone starts trying to claim that won’t work in America, note that the Sydney/Melbourne flight route is the world’s second busiest & it’s been shut down as part of this for over 6 months! Not a single flight route in America is on the world’s top 50 busiest! There are concrete barriers running down the middle of roads in major towns located on the border between NSW & Qld, cause NSW refuses to support the closing the border so as to allow the barricades to be errected just inside their state to keep the town unified! Qld is converting road blocks to permanent concrete structures cause they don’t believe NSW will ever control this!
There is no reason at all that Florida can’t be isolated from the rest of America until they agree to manage covid. Same for any other state that does the same!

High inoculation rates help, but there are other factors. One is population density. Florida has a little higher rate of vaccination than South Dakota, but SD is way better off because of low population density. Cities, especially if people use public transportation, need higher rates of vaccination. So, Florida needs to bear down on vaccines because an incredible number of people live there

@SeanPat1001 where I live we got insane population density as well and here the vaccination rates helped a lot. As mentioned, the group that got infected mostly here was the group that wasn’t vaccinated yet.
More people don’t want to wear face mask & obey physical distancing, than those who follow health protocol.

So far, at least 750 fully vaccinated people have died after contracting Covid, but the CDC noted that 142 of those fatalities were asymptomatic or unrelated to Covid-19, according to data as of Monday that was released Friday.
The CDC received 3,907 reports of people who have been hospitalized with breakthrough Covid infections, despite being fully vaccinated. Of those, more than 1,000 of those patients were asymptomatic or their hospitalizations weren’t related to Covid-19, the CDC said.
“To be expected,” Dr. Paul Offit, a top advisor to the Food and Drug Administration on children’s vaccines told CNBC. “The vaccines aren’t 100% effective, even against severe disease. Very small percentage of the 600,000 deaths.”
Breakthrough cases are Covid-19 infections that bypass vaccine protection. They are very rare and many are asymptomatic. The vaccines are highly effective but *don’t block every infection*. Pfizer and Moderna’s phase three clinical studies found that their two-dose regimens were 95% and 94% effective at blocking Covid-19, respectively, while Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot vaccine was found to be 66% effective in its studies. All three, however, have been found to be extremely effective in preventing people from getting *severely sick from Covid*.
Most Americans have received at least one shot of the two currently authorized mRNA vaccines. The U.S. has administered 178.3 million shots and fully vaccinated 46% of its population.

“You are just as likely to be killed by a meteorite as die from Covid after a vaccine,” Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease expert at the University of California San Francisco, told CNBC. “In the big scheme of things, the vaccines are tremendously powerful.”
*Most importantly, the CDC also insists on this:*
COVID-19 vaccines are effective
* Vaccine breakthrough cases occur in only a small percentage of vaccinated people. To date, no unexpected patterns have been identified in the case demographics or vaccine characteristics among people with reported vaccine breakthrough infections.
* COVID-19 vaccines are effective. CDC recommends that everyone 12 years of age and older get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they can.
* People who have been fully vaccinated can resume activities that they did prior to the pandemic.
Conclusion: take the vaccine ASAP, because 99% of people who end up in ICUs aren’t vaccinated. If you do take the vaccine, you’ll be a caring, considerate citizen who thinks about his fellow human beings and not a selfish person.

I am living in another part of the world where we could not get enough vaccine. I can’t believe people refuse to get vaccinated when it’s totally free for them.
