  1. I should point out that although “peak performance” on some vectors can be estimated, engineering innovations cannot be estimated, therefore the statement “no matter how clever we are” is somewhat positivist. There will be plenty of engineers whose response to that will be “I’ll show you!” And they’ll try to innovate a new, less costly thing. Like the guy who recently developed a model for a gameboy that uses no batteries to play. Considering the plastics *can* be corn-based, without batteries we could have more power with less ecosystem damage. But that is just one engineer. Interestingly enough, he harnesses the mechanical energy of button pushing with a little bit of solar power. Another recent innovation on power generation is a type of battery that is powered by the friction of a large object moving up and down slightly, but it will generate possibly megawatts or hundreds of megawatts, but I can’t remember the exact capacity. Synthetic meat may yield synthetic fish and I have even heard about synthetic wood. What undiscovered innovations can The Ocean Cleanup predict won’t be enough?

Still, we need to stop dumping plastic waste in the oceans.

  2. Isn’t this why they created COVID-19 to curve the population scale so there would be future resources.

    1. @Tony Simone yes it can if we changed our ways. Everybody lived rural and lived like the old days. Grown there own food. Lots of room!

    1. Water dumped with chemicals. Gmos runnin amok with no long term studies. Super bugs. Super viruses. Super pests. Wooo

  3. Even single molecule of water that was here 10,000 years ago, is still here. When a pig drinks water it pees it out and gets cleaned up and reused over and over.
