@artistjoh Have you heard the lengthy Podcast by Sam Harris. I recommend you do. He provided actual factual evidence that there is no preferential treatment given to white suspects. In fact according to Roland G. Fryer Jr. – a black Harvard professor, whites are 25% more likely to be killed by the police than blacks in every police interaction.
The problem I have is with your media that is brainwashing millions of people with factually incorrect assertions creating racial resentment. Have you noticed the media doesn’t allow a statistician onto MSNBC to set the record straight. Ask yourself why that is the case.

I was going to suggest the American Dream began slipping away the moment Trump came down the escalator 5 years ago. But a few of the other responses here are well spoken also.
I agree with Joe Scarborough on this. As person with disabilities the fact the Dream is just as elusive for you as it with person of color. Person with disabilities should be successful as any non disabled person but the current and past economy it is a fluke.

15 year U.S. Army disabled Veteran here. I am one who has given up on the American experiment. Unless something miraculous happens, this country looks to just slide further and further into the muck. The problem with Trump is not Trump. It is the people who voted for him AND the Republicans who know he is corrupt and mentally unstable, but refuse to stand up to him. As it stands, I am with the late George Carlin…I am just watching the U.S. swirl the bowl at this point.

“The American dream.” Like George Carlin said, “You have to be asleep to believe it.” The American dream pushes you into lifelong debt through the college education system, and the only opinions are those of the corporations. The judgments of the people at the bottom are wasted on deaf ears, though acknowledged with a few pretty words from someone who knows the people will forget and move on from injustice. And the tolerance of America, or lack thereof, is no better represented than by the political and cultural divide in this country. Republicans vs Democrats. Blacks vs Whites. Capitalists vs Socialists. The American Dream is an incarnate fantasy of division, apathy, and greed.
