NYC Mayor Eric Adams declares state of emergency for migrant influx | USA TODAY

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said more than 17,000 asylum seekers have been bused in from the southern border.

New York City's mayor declared a state of emergency on Friday over the thousands of migrants being sent from southern border states since the spring, saying the demand being put on the city to provide housing and other assistance is "not sustainable."

By the end of its fiscal year, Maybe Eric Adams said the city expected to spend $1 billion helping the new arrivals, many of whom are heavily reliant on government aid because federal law prohibits them from working in the U.S.

  1. Many of us saw the migrant trouble on it’s way, though not specifically for any particular state. As a nation as a whole. As an individual and a citizen I am willing and able to help. I acknowledge the emergent nature. I am passionate about wanting to bring sanity, safety and respect we’ve lost as a country through this catastrophe to a manageable level. I simply do not know how to start or what to do. I am ready to go when the opportunity is there.

  2. This is a self-made crisis! Imagine inviting somebody for dinner and then get mad when they show up! 😂

  3. So much for being a sanctuary city.

You balked at Texas and other border states for wanting stricter border policies and now look.

  4. loooool this chump must have so much dirt on him and be compromised so hard to have gotten this mayor gig

  5. Now, New York, y’all just handle it like we have in Texas for many years. Like it or not, it has to be done. This is Joe’s way of getting votes and increasing the tax base.

  6. Expect sympathy?. We don’t get any warning here on the border. NY is just getting into the game while we’ve been playing and getting beat for a long time. Blame the people who should have put a stop to this a long time ago. We do what we can but yet migrants are still unhappy with the food, lack of milk, housing and the list goes on. We couldn’t find baby formula-who helped our citzens? At the rate this is growing I’m terrified to see where we end up.
