Stacey Abrams fires back at GOP senator about voting rights

During a Senate Judiciary hearing about voting rights, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) pressed Stacey Abrams on Georgia's new and controversial elections law that was passed after then-President Donald Trump called into question the credibility of the state's 2020 election results. There was no evidence of widespread voter fraud found in Georgia.

    1. @William Roman and she petitioned MLB not to hold the all star game in Atlanta. That is 100 million dollars in much needed potential revenue for the city.

    2. @Mike Johnson I would agree with your statement too, if that bill was really about that, but then it wouldn’t have these other new rules that limit the voting rights of the poor, working class and minorities. And if itβ€˜a not a racist bill, if it’s not about disenfranchisement of minorities and the poor, then they would listen to Stacey Abrams and others who represent these minorities when they tell them how the bill will negatively impact them, and change the bill before they pass it. If the bill was just that one thing it would be just that.

    3. @Mike Johnson I’m a moderate Mike. Reverse the rules that were put in place because of the pandemic if you want. Everything else in GA is just because Republicans lost. My county. Two Senators. And the Presidential vote. Republicans are scared. The bills are unnecessary by their own words.

    1. @Gee Fee ” how exactly do minorities work longer hours than anyone else?” πŸ‘ˆ well, not only in Georgia that in the majority of States, minorities have lower-paying jobs and therefore need to work longer hours and sometimes have more than one job. Which equals more hours. This is not always the case but it is a majority pattern. Would you like to see the stats? And for just Georgia or other states?

    2. @Gee Fee ” How would that stop ONLY minorities from voting?” πŸ‘ˆ please quote me a bath where I ever said the word “only”, in that context? Majority. Yes. Not only.

    3. @Gee Fee … wow! I can see the rest of all of you wrote was just you devolving into more childish name-calling, while ironically calling me childish and then making an excuse for you to stay face and run away at the same time. That happened quick. You know, if you’re that sensitive and ill-prepared oh, maybe you should find somewhere else to hang out.

    4. @Gee Fee ” I research for myself.” πŸ‘ˆ is that why you’re getting all angry and ignorant right now because you can’t provide proof for a claim you made?

  1. She has worked so hard and never stops to take a break. She deserves that honorable nomination for her support of African Americans and their right to vote in Elections. She will make a great recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

    1. @Jameson Deller the only racists are coming from the radical left. They are indoctrinated in the modern plantation to hate America.

    1. Common republican tactic to run out the clock. They do this or they filibuster and then go golly gee would you look at that my five minutes are up.

    2. @Love&Light he’s giving her a chance to plead the 5th. Did cnn show you how ted cruz wiped the floor with her lying a$s? Of course not. It would screw up there narrative.

    3. @FLYING DREAM PRODUCTIONS democrats know they’re going to lose the house and the senate if there is a fair election in 2022. The audit in Arizona is the begining of the end of their wet dream.

    4. @Elmosweed you really don’t get it, do you? Do you do this automatically. Or were you bourne a democrat. You’re unbelievable.

  2. She basically won the US election for Biden. Without her work in Georgia it couldn’t have happened.

    1. @Immortal Asirpa I appreciate the passionate speech but unfortunately means nothing to me I don’t owe her nothing Short and sweet have a ID that’s it

    2. With out Georgia Biden still would have won just means he would not have gotten to the three hundreds in the electorial college

    3. @Kevin McK Dude your comments are so lame. And your liberalism just kinda megaphones through your words..but mistaken confidence in intelligence is not always a bad thing..i mean, it usually is..but there’s a chance for ya. I got one for ya: Name your fav new policy pushed by this Administration& how is it going to benefit the US?

So you mean to tell me that if I talk about electrical magnetic signals I go on a watch list? so you mean to tell me that the Mexican drug cartels can talk about electrical magnetic signals and get a watch list sent anywhere they want only to be met by semi-automatic weapons? lol, so three National Security units could be called today, 3 National Security units could be sent, and when the unit drives around with their cars, they will be met by semi-automatic weapons and gunned down in the street, they could continueΒ  to send your National Security watch list, and then execute your watchlist when it arrives, three times a day, three military units gunned down, just like pulling fire alarms, they can control your whole army, just like the beaches of Normandy, you prove it bro…. lol for pretend OBVIOUSLY

    2. @Dean VanValkenburg As a broadcast engineer:
That just may be the dumbest pile of literal foil hat bullshit I’ve ever seen…or is that supposed to be a joke?
I seriously can’t believe that anyone could possibly be ignorant enough to fall fir such a thing unless they are completely batshit insane.

  3. He kept trying to interrupt and cut her off. Must have thought she wasn’t gonna know her stuff🀣🀣🀣

    1. @elitepanda3000 I’m a liar for telling the truth based on truth? No. You are the one telling a lie based on a lie. There’s no racism there. Her whole take is based on her lie. It makes her answer wrong at every turn. That’s how she’s being evasive. That’s what’s going on. So understand that, and you don’t have to go to kindergarten.

    2. @FLYING DREAM PRODUCTIONS he looked like an idiot who couldn’t understand English and was sorry he asked. There isn’t anyone in the country that knows more about election reform and election law than Stacey Abrams. You don’t have to like her but that doesn’t make her any less brilliant

  4. Stacey is brilliant and knocks down each question this old geezer tries to throw at her. You go girl.

    1. @Reece Are you lost in the sauce they are already keeping money away from communities and into the hands of the powerful. Why is it just now being talked about after all these years of voting B.S. referencing illegal voter fraud. Illegals have been in this country since forever. This is a Bullshit excuse for the lies republicans tell.

    2. @Chaos Lololol….were you watching the same thing. That antique of a man was a joke compared to her.

    3. Miss jive turkey I don’t shut up I get fired up when it comes down to my people myself. Reparations overdue more money your people owe me

    1. @NY Militia I have known plenty of undocumented immigrants who have never once voted in the election , the last thing they want to do is draw attention to themselves and their family who is also more than likely here as well . They work really hard to not cause any trouble, they certainly don’t want to get caught and deported, they want to try and become legal citizens to help better their children’s future!

Edit: how did they register to vote if they are not legal since u need ( at least in my state) a valid social security card, a driver’s license or ID, proof of residency and ur birth certificate and they will try to verify all of it.

  5. She was too much for that old man. She layed it out detail by detail. He knows it’s racially motivated.

    1. Any other minorities find it a bit more racist to assume that because we are minorities, we don’t have valid ID to vote? ….seriously!

    2. @Pedro The Mexican No one is assuming “because you are a minority you dont have a valid ID”. But the fact is, minorities are more likely to have a harder time voting, because of the new laws.

  6. You have to be stupid to go up against someone that knows her stuff. Plus, he constantly interrupted her thinking she won’t answer his questions.

  7. She was definitely more composed than I could have been. I applaud her ability to remain calm through his questioning and utter rudeness. He was dismissive and just a terrible questioner as your not suppose to ask a question and then cut the person off mid answer.

    1. The Democrats are taking this country illegally and it will destroy and we are on the verge of the awaking.

    2. @FLYING DREAM PRODUCTIONS Wow, guy. There was no evasiveness. She was trying to answer the questions. He was interrupting her and trying to twist things around to make her look bad. To me, he completely and utterly failed, but apparently he didn’t, because people like you were easily fooled.

  8. He didn’t want hear the truth. His southern twang- filled disrespectful interruptions and questions sound suspiciously like, “how many black jelly beans are in this jar?”

    1. @Jameson Deller well you’re certainly not concerned with truth, just GOP propaganda. How are complaints about restricted drop box hours “ballot harvesting”? How are concerns about shorter mail in ballot windows “ballot harvesting”? You’re just using a ultra right wing buzzword and applying it to things it doesn’t fit.

    2. @FLYING DREAM PRODUCTIONS He tried to have a “gotcha” moment but failed. As to your so called point, Ms. Abrams would have never made it this far on “race-based assumptions.” It is a FACT (proven in court) that the GOP has tried to use the “trick” of voter limitations and restrictions by requesting and collecting data on voting practices by race. They then tried and failed (they lost in court) to use the fact that for the most part, black people tend to vote during the week (Sundays too) and tend towards the democratic vote. The GOP tried to have the first week of early voting removed. It is just ONE of old racist efforts to discourage black voter turnout. I could go on, but I don’t have time, at least not today. He didn’t want to hear it so he kept cutting her off. If he still felt the need for to her break it down, then I’d say he needs to learn some critical thinking and comprehension skills.

    3. @Nicky, as an intelligent Senior Citizen, I have earned the rights to deal with A-holes and not give any fuc@$.

  9. Does he really think calling everything that he can’t argue against “platitudes” and cutting her off every time she says something of relevance, is going to work? This lady is smarter than you. Dude. You just brought a knife to a gunfight. πŸ€¦πŸ˜‚πŸ€¦

    1. @Friedley Matthew Well… With most people who don’t live in Louisiana, I’d say around the Shreveport area… But if you know the area. I live in that little wedge between Bossier and Haughton. Red Shoot. Know where that is?

  10. Geez, she’d barely start answering a question and he’d cut her off. Seems to me like he really didn’t want to hear her answers.

    1. If only congress had more of people like Stacey, America might have been on the right track. Sadly thats not what i see the next 10-20 years.

    2. You think we should have voter ID or let anyone from any state come to yours and vote…? democrats are criminal ..wake up … youtube.com/watch?v=kfEKX0CAUu0 …dirty politicians

    3. I agree 100%, Myrycal Moore. At least 3 times he tried to infer that she wasn’t grasping the meaning of the questions that he was putting forth for her to answer. Sen. John Kennedy, maybe if you brush up on what is going on you can come across as capable.

    4. @Doug Green I don’t need an ID to vote in a presidential election. And, only people who’re registered can vote; so, why would people be flocking to your state to vote if they’re registered to vote in theirs? Are you guys giving stuff away that we don’t know about? You’re not making any sense.

  11. Love how he asking questions only to interrupt her by asking another question & not allowing her to answer his original question. What a pompous 🀑. & I Definitely love exactly how she answers those original questions without getting sidetracked..Way to go Queen!! πŸ’ͺπŸΎπŸ‘ΈπŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ

    1. Its refreshing to see and listen to someone intelligent in congress. These Republican crooks on the otherhand, sound dumb as hell. He could hear her fine, its just his brain that couldnt keep up.

    2. πŸ’― he needs a hearing aid. He has lack of intelligence. They all know their time is UP ON EVERYTHING

  12. Talk about an absolute beating. She bloodied him. His whole party was screaming “make it stop”. SOOO GOOOD.

    1. @Elmosweed You shouldn’t have wasted your time with that list. I heard all that. So did Kennedy. There’s no proven racism there. It’s a narrative that apparently matches racial statistics larger with blacks. But this changing of voter laws is not racially constructed as whites are affected too. Now if you were to make the argument that it affects those with lower income, you might have a point, but that’s not racist. It’s just tightening voting laws which I don’t blame the Republicans for pushing because the virus was a strange occurrence that now that the virus happened, they are rethinking voter security. Abrams (along with Democrats) are telling you it’s racist. And you’re buying it. It’s pretty sick actually.

    2. @FLYING DREAM PRODUCTIONS America has had an illness that you are fighting very hard to prevent it from curing. The bottom line is that the rule changes were predicated from a proven lie that you continue to believe. And unfortunately this isn’t the first time that this has happened. Make better policies, and reproduce more and you wouldn’t have to always attempt to move the goal post.

    3. @FLYING DREAM PRODUCTIONS nice try. Did you close your eyes and ears? She kicked his duck talking behind all over place

  13. “How can you call us racist??”
“I didn’t, i said some of the things you’re doing are racist.”
“Explain to me how it’s racist!”
    Deep breath “Well…..”
    “Stop explaining it to me!”
