should have just gotten the balloon instead of popping it for we don’t know what it contained, could have had particles or other substances which have been dispersed in the air of where it had been popped.

at 60k ft it couldn’t possibly contain enough to do much even if released. The balloon was only as large as it was because of the pressure at that height. At ground level it would have been much much smaller

Well the USA has been using unmanned drones to “survey” the sea floor very close to the Chinese’s south coast for years so the game is being played by both parties probably what they mean with their response.
