    1. they acted as guards for the killer and STOPPED help. if you did that, you d be an accessory.

  1. The “commander” assumed the shooting was over and waited an HOUR!?!?!?! So, the kids bleeding out were waiting for medical help because of…a tactical team????

Any parent would have gone in WITHOUT armor or weapons.

Wholly and completely indefensible. Disgusting. Words don’t cover how awful their inaction was.

    1. Parents tried, including armed ones (its Texas, most of that population carrys). Officers were filmed tackling, tasering, pepper-spraying, and arresting parents that were attempting to enter and try to save their kids’ lives

    2. So the police was fighting the parents outside instead of going in. I can’t imagine listening to the screams of the children asking for help and the shots being fired. The police was waiting for a negotiator, more back up etc etc.

  2. Every one of those Law Enforcement Officers that waited outside the School rather than going in and doing their job should turn in their badges and resign from the Force because it’s quite obvious that Police work is just not the job that they should be engaged in. They should also lose their qualified immunity and their Pensions.

    1. Pensions they have already contributed to and should not lose that, but you are certainly right about one thing, they shouldn’t be able to wear that badge ever again.

    2. @themcguy1 sorry, in the real world it doesn’t work that way, but I feel your frustration , not to mention the frustration of the officers who wanted to go in

    3. @themcguy1 unfortunately that’s not how it works bud. It’s sad asf that they were just waiting personally I’d risk my job an life to go in against orders but that’s not how it works it’s not 100% their fault it’s the higher ups

  3. The police were there, outside the building and did nothing.
How is this case supposed to convince anyone to wait for the police rather then get their own gun?????
Or is somebody going to pretend that the killer would seriously have been stoped by anything else at this point?

  4. Not only is it pathetic that all dozens of officers with body armor and high caliber weapons waited an hour before entering a school with a single active shooter, but also that they prevented parents from trying to do something since they were too scared to do their jobs.

Instead they tased, peppersprayed, and arrested parents. Absolutely disgusting.

Also it has come out that their police force and SWAT team has ACTUALLY PREPARED for these situations and have run multiple drills throughout the years, INCLUDING A DRILL AT THAT VERY SAME SCHOOL LAST YEAR.

Every single officer on the scene should be fired for incompetence and the parents should sue the department and city

    1. They should be charged with helping that guy murder kids. What did they do accept help him?

    2. Suing is not adequate retribution for the deaths the police caused by their cowardice. I hope every single one of them is hounded for their cowardice every day of their lives.

  5. standing around before it happens, standing around when it’s happening and more standing around when it’s over, that’s all you see now… cops standing around

  6. Shameful and cowardly. On a battlefield, they would be court martialed for dereliction of duty. MIA.

  7. What a disgrace. Those officers should be ashamed. If you’re in that line of work you have to be willing to advance into the unknown. You hear gunfire, you run TOWARDS it. They need to train these officers better to instill some confidence in them so they can do what needs to be done under pressure. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families

    1. you see footage elsewhere of police taking parents down and threatening to taser them…absolute disgrace….

  8. So if you can’t depend on the police in an emergency especially one as serious as this why should you be dependent on them for your day to day safety?

  9. What I’d like to know is, were they ordered to stand down as is rumored? If so, why and by whom.

  10. Every one of the cops on the scene should be fired. I hope the department gets sued out of existence.

  11. this is unacceptable, they know how screwed up the gun law is as a law enforcer and u have no zero tolerance in an event like this, in a school setting???wtf

  12. Very sad that law enforcement response was to late for some of those children. Time for change but when maybe never

  13. Missteps? Really? Everyone, just look up how real police react to an active shooter.
Cowardice isn’t missteps it is just cowardice. Those useless men had been retrained in how to properly respond to a active shooter two months prior to this tragedy.

  14. I’m right about everything and the police should of done what I think they should of done under circumstances I’ll never be in.

  15. all of the officers involved should be fired!!and charged for not doing their jobs!!protecting our children is their most important job!!they made too many bad decisions!!

  16. Tax Payers paid for the high priced Body Armor and Weapons that the Police had and were designed for exactly that type of siege but they chose not to deploy them. Waiting for orders just doesn’t cut it here. Those individual Cops should have risked being fired in order to save even just one of the lives in that School regardless of what the Chief’s orders were. They were hired to Protect and Serve not Sit and Stand By!!!!!
